hey guys, i was looking for some skin sticker for my switch.
but i read that it might damage the joy cons etc.?

anyone knows whether it is safe to use skin decals?

i usually use them mostly for smudge issues.
i buy only Matt finish type of skin decals.

was going to order one , but now not so sure :l

Adhesives were shown to deteriorate the finish on the joycon. info given by dbrand who were doing preorders of switch skins, but then refunded orders and pulled them from sale after testing showed every kind of adhesive they used had adverse affects on pretty much any part of the switch console, including the dock.

yeah , i read that on dbrand.
i guess i will just stay away from skins then, thankfully though the Switch is not glossy !!
so it is not really an issue, neither the console nor the joy cons are gloss, they are already kind of mat.
so i will just avoid skins.

I have the official Zelda stickers on my Switch. I don't know if they affect the finish as I'm not taking them off ever, but I didn't notice anything when I had to re-position a part a little. I think it's just because dbrand uses weird glue

There was another brand claiming their skins would not damage the Switch, but I'm not sure I would risk a $300 (actually way more in Norway) console by applying stickers to it, not when they are known to damage the console.

The officially endorsed Hori one that I have has never been recalled and Nintendo hasn't been seed for them, so I don't believe there is a problem there.
