I don't see how any human being can consider this a mess. Except if you are retarded, I don't see anything complicated. Even my 13-yo sister could easily understand it.

It is not complicated, the same way hiting your finger with a hammer is not complicated.
Sure your sister could pull it off, and wouldn't feel to happy about it. /s

It is Spaghetti, you know, this implementation is like the hardware version of Spaghetti code, and quite more visual at it.
(also known as fix it with tape)

doesnt anyone notice that this is for people that want both voice chat and game audio thru the headset, normally you would have the audio thru the tv and just use the phone, i dont get why this isnt obvious. i has something like this with a xbox turtle beach headset.

Actually, it's only 3 cables. The Arrow-shaped dongle has for only purpose to mic the game's sound and the voice. And I'm sure the whole phone app thing is because of pattery or power/RAM issues on the Switch itself.

Yeah, that is what we were all talking about, it is quite obvious from the pictures (and also painful to see).

Still, imagine taking your Switch out to play on a café or a train, and having to pull out a dongle, a cable, a phone, cables hanigng around the table... it's all just awful, horrible design TBH.

PS: and you could say "what are you doing voice chatting on a café or a train", well, sorry for my lack of imagination, sure there are better examples.
I am annoyed enough already for having to plug wired headphones to the console instead of using my bluetooth ones directly, no cables on portables please, they are annoying!

You know what would've been awful? Audio voice chat coming in the same bandwith as online play, and with fixed mixing between voice and game sound. That would've meant sometimes horrible sound, more lag and disconnects, and less battery life.

"Accessories manufacturer Hori will release a Nintendo Switch headset alongside Splatoon 2 this summer, one of the first of its kind for the console. But illustrated instructions for how the headset will connect to the Switch don’t give owners a ton of confidence about the future of voice chat." - Polygon - goo.gl/nvJv3iView attachment 88753

Looks really disappointing IMO. Hopefully Nintendo can find a more elegant solution in the future.
Great! Let's make my desk with my Switch even messier!

Well, things can always be worse for sure, e.g. it would be even worse if it exploded and gave you cancer while you played, but that is not the point.
The thing could have been made right.

(even my annoying point from above, bluetooth headphone support could still be added by firmware update and I hope it happens... I don't really care for voice chat anyway)

Last edited by sarkwalvein,
The original DS supported voice chat natively, but the Switch, 12 years later, can't have voice chat without a fucking smartphone? It supports 4 wireless controllers but it can't support a wireless headset?
What is the rationale behind this? What is their excuse?

looks at diagram...

It looks cool I will give them that but I'm passing on this thing. I don't really care if CRISIS I can't hear the game and my buddy at the same time.

Now that I think about it, it reminds me when I wanted to listen to a radio podcast but still play with audio. I took the earphones (for the podcast), put them on, then I took the headphones (for the game). I thought it was something stupid XD

Also can you imagine if you were to be using the last iPhone without the headphone jack? Maybe while you want to charge it too? Now THAT's complicated.

Why does Nintendo always have to screw everything up. Seriously. The not great launch titles, launch problems, expensive accessories, paid online services, re-release of old games (mk8 deluxe), pretty bad hardware compared to other consoles, 30 fps Zelda, no proper voice chat, no nick names, Loading port is on the bottom??(you can't charge while playing on the table), desyncing joy-cons, 50$ 1-2 Switch.

Nintendo. Seriously. Stop that.

Not being a fanboy but tbh the launch problems were just a few , no reports of the joycons since april , the paid services could make online better , the hardware and potency of the switch doesnt means we cant have good games and what do you mean with no nicknames????
but also yeah fuck 50$ 1-2-switch , charging port placemnt was a bad idea (not loading port lol) , the expensive acccesories and the most important of this thread the awful voice chat

With nick names I meant the 16 digit friend codes lol

People complain about Apple removing the jack port, then people complain about Nintendo putting jack ports all over the place...
Get your shit right people...

JK, this is bullshit. Except maybe if they have the possibility to stick the squid adapter and the phone at the back of the Switch somehow, in which case it's still bullshit but at least it doesn't ruin portability too much.
