So, I was reading the guide to update to B9S to make sure I go through the entire thing before I actually start anything on my N3DS itself, and I saw the parts where it mentioned to download GodMode9, I had no idea what GodMode9 was and Googled it.... and it was listed as a file manager. I figured the guide might need me to delete or copy or whatever some files on my 3DS itself during the process if they said I would need it.
But then as I continue I get to a part where it says I would need to delete all older payloads as they would not be compatible anymore, which would mean deleting Decrypt9WIP.
Since I use Decrypt9WIP a lot to backup my NAND and dump my carts to .CIA and .3DS versions, I checked to see if there was an update to a D9S version before deciding to convert, and was surprised to find a message saying people should switch to GodMode9 and that unless someone takes over the project this would be the last update to D9WIP.
So I wanted to ask how people felt about these two applications. If they preferred one or the other, and why? There were comparison threads before when I tried to Google them, but they were old, and far before B9S existed (Hell, many of them even had Hourglass9 in the mix). Most people seem to be more or less evenly split across the two in the older topics I saw, but I also saw a lot of confusion and complaints about GodMode9. Mainly, about how it seems to mainly be a file manager, and there seem to be a lot of "gotchas" that would screw up someone not familiar with it, such as how it does not auto-dump the encryption keys with the nand dump the way Decrypt9WIP does, and is apparently much more confusing to use. Others commented how they could not figure out how to dump/inject the H&S app as part of the 3DS hacking process, and other confusion.
As I said, pretty much all I use Decrypt9WIP for is to dump my carts to trimmed .3DS files for emulators, to trimmed and decrypted .CIA files to install on my 3DS itself, and to create NAND backups for safety.
What are your opinions on the two? Which do you prefer now after B9S is out?
