I was on 3ds.guide following the instructions in order to downgrade my new 3ds xl and install luma but I kept getting stuck with the CTRTransfer step, whenever it reached step 3 I got the ".sha check failed" error code. I looked into it and I heard that it was a result one of the files getting corrupted somewhere along the line (whether it be my sd card reader, micro to sd adapter or the sd card itself) one of the files were corrupted. I used the software Quick Hash to find out that the "o3ds.bin" and the "o3ds.bin.sha" files' sha256 hashes not matching up. I am not sure how this could have happened since I downloaded it from the link provided by 3ds.guide multiple times and ran into the same error. I was assuming it was a problem with the torrent so I searched google for somewhere else to download the files.
I found a youtube video titled "How to install A9LH + Luma CFW in 11.2.0-35 [SAFEHAX] (OLD/NEW 3DS or 2DS) w/ KevExperience!". I know that it says 11.2 but I just clicked on the video to download the "2.1.0-4U_ctrtransfer_o3ds.bin" and "2.1.0-4U_ctrtransfer_o3ds.bin.sha" files like 3ds.guide specifies. I clicked the link with the title "USA (NEW)" in the description (assuming NEW stands for new 3ds). When I opened the .zip file I saw the two files I were looking for but I also saw two others that caught my eye, "9.2.0-20U_ctrtransfer_n3ds.bin" and "9.2.0-20U_ctrtransfer_n3ds.bin.sha".
There are two main differences with these groups of files, the version numbers, "2.1.0-4U" and "2.2.0-20U" and the part that I focused on most, "-o3ds" and "-n3ds". I'm assuming that o3ds and n3ds stand for old 3ds and new 3ds respectively. My first instinct would be to ignore 3ds.guide and use the new 3ds files instead but I read multiple warnings that installing the wrong firmware would give be a 100% guaranteed unrecoverable brick.
I want to install luma without making an extraordinarily expensive paper weight accidentally. I'm kind of new to the whole modding scene so if you know what to do please make your explaination as basic as possible, thanks.
