While My Nintendo isn't anywhere as good as the Club Nintendo was (at least for physical rewards), you can get gold coins for claiming a physical Switch game as long as you have the game card in the console.
This is a feature that I often forget it exists because it's hidden away unless you press the + button on the game icon to see that it's there.

I got 14 gold coins for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and since I also have BotW and Puyo Puyo Tetris that's another batch of gold coins too. Too bad I forgot to redeem the gold coins before selling Bomberman R (never really enjoyed it very much anyway).

Edit:

16 gold coins for BotW.
10 gold coins for PPT.

And a correction: It says that this reward system is only for physical games so I guess very much that digital games are a no go, apparently.

Because I don't want to spam with new thread, I'm going to use yours (I'm sorry if this bothered you). To the people who read this- can the reward for one cartridge be used on multiple consoles?
Example: If I give my BotW to somebody and he gives me bomberman (I have redeem botw on my console and had done the bomberman on his), will we be able to redeem them (me to redeem the bomerman again, but this time on my console and he to redem the botw on his)?
Also, can few different accounts on one console redeem gold from one game?

I wish it worked on digital. I don't know why digital is being segregated when Nintendo makes that money more directly via eshop.

You get coins for digital too. You own the directly when you bought a game. You can see it in your coin history and when you get in the +options of a game there is a sentence about coins for digital buying. I got 20 gold coins for buying sniper clips eshop version. Sry for my english.

Its setup in a way where you get more point for digital games...

As you can see, you get 60 points for digital game, while you only can get 12 for the same game physically.

it's like they don't want you to even buy the damn carts... :wtf:
Well, this is totally logical. They own the eshop, so every transaction made on the eshop brings more money directly fo them. They had the information that the eshop titles will bring more gold in the built-in news thing on the switch at some point at april.

Makes sense. Nintendo makes more profit straight from the eShop than from physical games so they reward much higher those that buy games digitally. Still, I'm avoiding digital at all costs on the Switch so not buying any games until they get a physical release that I like.

This explains why my points jumped hard when I got Mario Kart digitally. Wish there was something to use the coins on.

They said Switch rewards will be coming soon, so one can hope they are good.
Yea cuz I gotta say, what with the Wii U being dead and being able to just ya know, get games, the discounts dont really do it for me. It's kind of funny MK8 U has a discount tho.

It's a shame it'll be digital Switch rewards but hey, Switch rewards nonetheless. :)

The eShop of the Switch really needs a huge improvement.

So I could go to a GameStop and ask to test several Switch games in my console just to see if it "works" and bam I'm sitting on a stack of gold coins or is it not that simple?

Assuming the game are not used, in theory that should work.
I forgot what was said that its a one time deal once the game has been played. However for silly reasons GameStop needs to open up brand new games so they can have display models so it wouldn't be that impossible to get away with it.

Simply playing the game doesn't claim the coins. You need to register it through the game settings menu, and that requires an Internet connection.
