Nintendo announces the New 2DS XL

Coming out of absolutely nowhere, Nintendo has revealed a new variation of the 2DS...the New 2DS XL! The system features a top screen that looks almost like a cell phone snapped onto the bottom of a 3DS. It has the extra processing power of the N3DS, amiibo functionality, and the C-stick nub, while, just like the original 2DS, omits the 3D feature of the handheld. The New 2DS XL will release on July 28, and retail for $149.99.

I saw this in my youtube feed and freaked out! This looks way sexier in terms of hardware design and seems to have a bigger screen. But overall this is a stupid move. First off they are basically are competing with their own new hybird the switch. Second off, nobody wanted this. Third off, it makes no sense to make this. The point of the 2ds is to be the dirt cheap model that a kid could buy with their allowence or a parent could buy for there kid. 150 is not dirt cheap when compared to the new 3ds xl model which is only 50 dollers more so you might as well by the new 3dsxl model.

The designer is excellent, however the console seems to be assembled by embedded parts, this will hinder the hardmod process.

you know what? this actually looks pretty good.
I haven't bought a 3DS so far but this appeals to me. I was uncomfortable with the design of the original 2DS and I didn't care for 3D.
So this is actually pretty interesting, and not overpriced. I might buy one!
Good luck installing homebrew, they most likely patched out a9hl via hardware, and even if they didn't, they would all probably ship with 11.4

Thought this was some kind of a joke. It's actually real.

Well, it looks nice, sleek and cool but will I buy it for myself? No, I've got the Switch so that's more than enough for me at the moment. Not too keen on spending loads of money everywhere.

I thought this was a late April Fools Joke, Chary in her "never sleeps" state, lost track of time and thought it was April 1, rather than it being the 27th. They just say "XL," but I want to know if the screen sizes are identical to the 3DS XL models. If so, or hell, even bigger, I'm getting it. It does give an interesting message about the N3DS XL, basically, 3D functionality is an extra $50, a functionality I never use and with Sun/Moon cutting out 3D for the sake of performance (games still lag, go figure), the appeal of this console is very much there for me. The decider is the screen size.

And another benefit, once this sells out (quickly), scalpers will ruin it similar to NES Classic (though Nintendo buttfucked the demand with such a sad amount of supply), and then the N3DS XL's price will go down universally, I hope, it's not often to get one off Amazon at MSRP.

Japan is getting it in two different colors, the other looks like an ugly Pumpkin IMO

Hopefully this can allay people's complaints about the supply of New Nintendo 3DS XL's because let's be honest, the 3D while nice looking kills the framerate in too many games to be practical.
