People can't follow simple instructions, so there's nothing to do to help them.
they think they know better and don't have to read, reply or follow instruction even if they don't succeed to do what they want without help, and think they don't need to to what we suggest even if they are asking for help.

I really don't understand the reasoning here.

some users are just destined to brick their consoles.

Yep, that is the problem, as a good majority don't listen, follow instructions or read, which results in a disaster. It's always the "I'm alright Jack" attitude, which back fires on them;)

I dont know what the broken ios is
I have my nand backup
If Hackmii installer can run, IOS58 is bad.
other IOS maybe too, but you only need a good IOS58 to run hackmii.

So, you could start fixing IOS58, then install HBC with Wuphax, then from HBC fix your remaining and broken IOSes.

Yeah, and it's not lack of trying to help them. there are guides and answers in many help threads.
look, I'm still here providing suggestions while I don't know what he really did, nor if he followed our instructions.

Can i use showmiinand to extract my ios58 from my old nand backup and install it as wad file?
Do not pack it as wad, it will be bad signed and will not work. Same if you get them from NUSDownloader, do not pack as wad or it will be incorrectly packed.
if you want the files to replace to your NAND, you don't necessarily need showmiiwad.

If you made a NAND dump in file/folder mode (FSDumper) then you already have the files you need to replace.
If you made a nand.bin, then you'll have to open it to extract its content.

Maybe NUSDownloader without packing to Wad is the best option. replace the downloaded .app files with wup server.

I noticed you still don't tell us what you are doing, don't report if you tried what we suggested to you, if it worked or not.

Yup, I was using smash stack before, but I find wuphax much more convenient to use than smash stack. Also for some reason wad manager would always dump the exception DSI code when I selected source device as SD card (this was when I had the bad IOS58, it works fine now). I used this other app called Wii Mod lite which has a built in wad installer:

1. Download and install wuphax
2. Download Wii Homebrew Launcher and put all the files on the root of your SD card
3. Download Wii Mod Lite and put it in your apps folder
4. Download the wad for HBC and put it somewhere on your SD card. Also put the wad for the clean IOS58 on your SD card
5. Click on your vWii Mii channel; if wuphax is installed it should take you to Wii Homebrew Launcher. Now launch Wii Mod Lite
6. Click on Change IOS and select 236
7. Click on Wad Manager, select SD card as source, locate and install HBC as well as clean IOS58 wads.

And that should do it, HBC should be installed and working normally now.

thats what someone else did to fix his broken ios58 you still need a clean ios58 for that

it will work only if he has vWii IOS36 patched and installed to slot 236.
if he replaced ALL his vWii IOS to Wii IOS, the 236 is probably part of it too and will not work. Some guides don't even tell users to install IOS236. And finally, even if the guide said something, some users don't even follow the recommendations.
that's a lot of "guess". if someone wants the proper help, he should start reporting and answering our questions, and not snobbing us.

At the end, the important is that everything is fixed and working.
He managed to fix it, but I'm not sure how or if everything is really fixed, and there were no report back (only once?) to tell what happened, what has been done, if our help was followed or not, etc.
it's really hard to help someone who don't report anything and act as if our help wasn't needed.

Exactly what I meant dude, i knew you didnt mean to do wrong, my msg was intended to Cyan to cheer him up, i know how infuriating it is to help someone and get ignored.
Glad you apoligized and realized you should at least reply even if you think the mentioned fixes aren't relevant !

Cheers

Chris :)

Late to the party, but I have a hacked/working WiiU that I've bricked the hacked vWii on. I can use the WiiU as per normal (hacked games work fine as well), but when I boot to vWii, it goes black screen, a Wii logo flashes on the gamepad, and then all is frozen and unresponsive from there.

I've seen a few people bring their vWii's back from the dead. Can anyone throw some ideas my way? I also realize that most answers are that if i'm at the black screen of death, I'm done for... I have NAND backups, but it seems those aren't any use. Perhaps there is a way to reinstall the OS? I'm not crazy technically able, but I can follow instructions!

Hoping @Cyan or another may be able to impart some knowledge to a guy who just wants to play his Wii games and emulators again...

If you backed up your nand files using the noob guide you can reflash the vWii files with a teensy++
