I read that rednand have a small risk of brick but i dont see where it can happen?.. (except for the sysconfig tool..) oh and is there a risk of brick if i loose electricity during rednand installation process?

Other small question: i dont really HAVE TO get sysconfig tool, right? I'm asking because one of the tuto says ''install sysconfig tool or you will brick'' i was like wtf.. i realllly dont see how it can brick just because i dont install this tool..can someone please clear it up for me :P

Thanks

I followed this tutorial: https://github.com/FlimFlam69/WiiUTutorial/wiki, and my experience went great!

They must have meant to say "don't install Sys Config Tool or you will brick"
There's not really a whole lot you can do to brick sysNAND or redNAND, but according to some people redNAND still has bugs that can cause random corruption resulting in a bricked redNAND. Using the wrong options in Sys Config Tool or messing with system titles (installing/deleting them or replacing/modifying important files without knowing what you are doing) are pretty much the only two user actions that can cause a brick.

Hey jdbye! Thanks for your reply.
Yah that what i tought :P
A bricked rednand doesnt scare me, but on sysnand... ..
So, theres no risk at all to brick the sysnand during the process of installing it? For exemple loosing electricity.. i think theres no risk since its a nand backup, not restoring, so.. but just to make sure :P

There's no brick risk on sysnand, as long as you're just installing games and using homebrew. Which is what everyone uses Wii U hacks for anyways.
Sysconfig tool could brick sysnand if installed there, but there's a special version that does work on sysnand. If you're still reading up posts about sysconfig tool, you're looking at really old information because nobody uses that anymore. Use Wup Installer G2X instead.
There haven't been any brick reports at all, unless you count CBHC (coldbooting haxchi), which if you format the system while it's installed you'll be in a boot loop.

Wii u hacks are much safer than 3DS, it's hard to go wrong. And if you ever did go wrong, you have yourself to blame for it because guides show you how to do everything from ground up.

Also thank goodness the main guide no longer uses rednand, it's entirely pointless to use. I've been using sysnand for almost a year and I even use CBHC. I've never bricked, which shows that it's not so easy to brick a Wii U.

Well that's you, it doesn't mean Wii U hacks are risky in general. You totally messed something up. Brick by chance isn't a thing on wii u.
Wii U hacks is just a matter of placing files on SD card, and using the homebrew apps. You dont really install anything to the system, it remains stock. You can stick that same SD card into someone else's wiiu and it will automatically be hack ready.

Well, to be honest i dont use hacks only for games, tweaking stuff and modding menus is something i find more interresting.
So maybe rednand is useless for people who just wanna play, but for people who want to test stuff without bricks, its perfect!

I know there are really almost none risk to bricks other then messing with the sysmenu, and i have tons of testing to do on the sysmenu and some other stuff in the nand, so redNAND will be my 'testing station' for a while :P

I.ve been into modding for a pretty long time now so i wont be bricking it noobingly, but i needed some confirmation that rednand cannot brick the sysnand in any case (other then messing with sys files in ftpiiUeverywhere etc..) but now its pretty cleared up :P

It's almost impossible to brick a Wii U unless you go full "Joel" and change every config file sitting in Wii U.
redNAND is exactly for this purpose, it's something like "Virtual Machine" but it's running off SDCard. Don't worry, if it bricks then you can easily recreate it and get back into your work again.
