I feel worried for the people who use and work on freeshop, as it is in a legal gray area. If you own the games, it's a good way to backup your games in case you lose the cartridge or something, but then again, there is a lot of piracy with freeshop, which is very, very illegal. With a name like "freeshop", it's inevitable. Just piracy of a file of music has major consequences, much less a game.

Freeshop itself falls under the same legal grounds as torrent downloader. The program itself is not illegal as it does no longer uses any Nintendo code (it did use the bootsplash, but that was removed.) Since freeShop does not directly advocate piracy, link to keys, or even directly say it can be used to install pirated titles. It does not violate any copyright laws.
