Hey guys,

I was about installing an cfw on my new 3ds xl.
(followed this german guide)

i reached the step, where i had to downgrade my system to 2.1.0-4E (6:30 in the video)
(was on 11.1.0.34E before)

everything until here worked fine. BUT my sd card crashed when i put it back into my 3ds.
the 3ds itself wasnt able to read it anymore, neither my pc.
windows (7) told me to format my drive to use it again.
It was "raw" format instead of "fat32".

i nearly tried EVERYTHING to get my data back.. without success.
so i tried to format my sd card and regain the data back after.. again, no success.

long story short:
I'm sitting on an 2.1.0-4E firmware with no nand backup, without any files i used to have in the progress. (the new 3ds xl is not bricked! better say: not bricked yet! xD)

what can i do?
help me please!

greetings

You should really be following http://3ds.guide to install CFW instead of following random video guides. We can't really help you if you followed a video guide, but we can when you follow the guide I linked to above and you tell us what step of what section you are on.

This isn't really fair to bring up. It seems he did everything right, but literally he had severe data corruption.

Are you on a New 3DS or Old 3DS?
EDIT: New 3DS - okay

I've never personally done this but you can recover the system, it's in English however. Let me know and I can try to give a rough translation but I'm not german!
https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-restore-n3ds-from-fw-2-1-without-nand-backups.424476/

EDIT again - guide seems really in depth. I'd wait until someone fluent in German can help you out, if you can't figure it out yourself. Good luck!!!

I was at the part, where i should have installed "arm9loaderhax" through the browser:

-Section II - Installing arm9loaderhax
-Step 3

i should have copied that nand backup one step early, i know, i failed on that point.
but i have to accept that i wont get my data back and so i am looking for another solution

It definitly is fair. Because if you follow the guide you will have the Nand backup by that time.

He even admited it at that point.

@icalvin If you need help I could translate the steps for you from the guide lisreal2401 linked in his previous post. I am still at work though.
Wenn du Hilfe brauchst kann ich dir mit der Übersetzung helfen. Bin allerdings noch auf Arbeit.

yea, i already checked that guide out.

but then i found another guide, using the 9.2.0 CTRTransfer (where you can use homebrew again)
but "ARM9loaderhax" needs to be installed, to get that guide work.
maybe i can still install it on my 2.1.0 firmware?

maybe you guys can tell me what my next step should be.
i dont want to act prematurely again...
Your next step is installing a9lh - I don't think you've done that yet...

Then load up decrypt9/hourglass9/safeCTR and update to 9.2 via ctr-transfer -- 3ds.guide should be available in german so for reference use that.

First probably find a new sdcard or run that one through an error checker

In the guide, it says:
"Once arm9loaderhax is installed and Luma3DS is setup with the correct options, we then restore our previous backup."

i dont understand, i dont have any backup?

Section iv #7 is for when you have a bad [or no] backup to flash. Do that [9.2 ctr] first - then come back to section v if need be

what i exactly did:

i followed the Installing arm9loaderhax guide
to the end of "Section III - Configuring Luma3DS"

after that i jumped to the 9.2.0 CTRTransfer guide and made it to the end of
"Section II - CTRTransfer"

when I try to boot my console, it constantly says: "failed to mount ctrnand"

im so confused right now

That sounds like you are still on 2.1 are you sure you used the 9.2 ctr files?

I've not seen that error outside of 2.1 -- just check you don't have the 2.1 ctr.bin still on the sdcard - what's the size of the 9.2 ctr you downloaded? Maybe it wasn't complete.
Otherwise post the contents of your sdcard - to see if something is amiss.

Also just to check /arm9loaderhax.bin on the sdcard is from luma3ds?
