You updated a N3DS in safemode from 2.10, you're lucky you didn't brick. How in the hell did you even manage to fuck up?

enjoy getting a hardmod

Why? Not sure how updating from 2.1 would not brick his system on N3DS when it's known to be a guaranteed brick, so I somehow doubt he even did that while on 2.1 but instead at some other part. If his console works and if he can boot into D9 to restore a backup, then doing that would do exactly the same thing that a hardmod would.

What guide did you use? What part did you get black screens on? What FW are you on right now? Just because it's like that right now is irrelevant, because judging from your picture the console actually works. If it works, you should be able to start over. If you can get back to 2.1 and install A9LH, then restore your backup that weird problem should disappear as well. Keyword is: should

I encountered this when I was installing AL9H on my n3ds xl. Top screen flickers green and bottom screen was blue. It was quite difficult to read but I went ahead and followed the 3ds guide and once I reinstalled on NAND, the colours went back to normal.

You must have not read the guide.
From the guide:
(Screen distortions or discolorations are normal for some devices while on 2.1.0, they will go away once you restore your backup)
Also from teh guide:
Never update a New 3DS running 2.1.0 (an Old 3DS firmware) or you will BRICK! You MUST restore a NAND backup or ctrtransfer back to standard New 3DS firmware first!

but how its stuck on the updating and i dont how to restore
Tell us the last step you did on the guide. Did you remember to remove the SD card when booting 2.1?
From the guide:
  • While on 2.1.0, the device will black screen on boot if your SD card is inserted before the home menu loads
  • Every time the device is rebooted on 2.1.0, you will need to take out your SD card before boot and put it back in after the home menu loads

Do yourself a favor and read ever word on every page of the guide. EVERY WORD. EVERY WORD. EVERY DAMN WORD.
