Hacking Any way to make a homebrew app that can bypass the stupid 292 game limit?

On Wii U:

275 VC games (all of them)
59 eShop games
28 Wii games (all of them)
5 "digital" Wii U games

Yes, 367 games is way too many, but I'm fine with that. I might have kids someday.
Hey you have all the vc games. Why not upload your keys to that site so all us dirty pirates can share your passion too. There's loads of missing vc games.

"LMAOOO why would you want to catch all 1488 Pokémons? I never use more than like 5 XDD."

Let the man collect his retro games. There are a bunch of forums for exactly that collecting purpose with a lot of software written for it. Just because you don't need them doesn't mean nobody needs it you commie.

LMFAO, even a 100 title limit is fine for me. Maybe even 50. Just want to fill up my 4GB USB flash drive with VC games that are actually good.

I bought 76 games digitally, but I only play about 5 of them. I was collecting them, so I can understand the issue the op has with the limit. people moan about the 3ds limit, so I fail to understand how that's different.

I don't know why people care about him wanting to have that many games.. He's not going to play them all but having them is what's nice. Say in a year or two he has a friend or group of people over and they really want to play a game on the Wii U. Just like wanting to play a game on snes or n64 from your childhood you don't have to go looking for it, you have it. It's kind of like having Netflix, obviously you're not going to watch everything, but it's nice to have all the content there and decide what you want to watch and what you're in the mood for.

this is what I'm thinking. many people have the entire goodmerge of snes, nes, etc. which comes along with bad rips and hacks. snes, for example, has around 12,000 game rips/hacks. do they really plan to play all of those games? I fail to see the difference here.

I know the Switch Virtual Console is coming out soon but I have a lot of eShop and Virtual Console games the goes past 300 games and I was wondering if there's a homebrew app or hack that allows more games, say like 500-600 games.

Yeah, the simple fix is: buy a 2nd WiiU then you can go up to 600

:-)

except that there is no expecting other people to fix problems for you if you do have 12,000 snes games, you simply grab an emulator and you can play what you want from the list, now if emulators could only list up 300 games due to a limitation of windows and someone was saying "urgh someone hack windows so I can have a list of 12,000 games" then I'm sure they would get a similar reaction...i.e delete the stuff you don't want right now/ever.

that said if he really wants to do something its completely up to him, there is a way "around" the issue is using most of your games via loadiine, or if the wiiu is anything like the 3ds the limit may just be a home menu limit and you may be able to install as many games as you like and load them up via the wiiu devmenu like you could on the 3ds, the advantage with the wiiu version is that it seems to display the game names too which would be handy, but I personally haven't used the dev menu app so I'm not 100% sure if it will allow you to bypass the limit like the 3ds version does

you could probably go as far as to make a few builds of loadiine on the homescreen and use different file paths for different VC titles to not be swamped under 2000 titles to go through

and the truth is the goodrom sets are more of an archive format than what people should download to play, most people would be content with a full set, and even then they would probably end up only really wanting a handful of games out of about 700 unique titles, the reason fullsets/goodsets are used for snes/retro games is because they are so small that downloading 1 600mb file is easier than hunting down 35 1mb files

it's pirates' syndrome in that u want everything. the same is true of emulators. ur not likely to play every game to completion, but u want them all anyway. it's like collecting baseball cards. most rn't worth anything, but u want them anyway to complete the set. I doubt the limit was made to prevent piracy which I read in this thread. the limit was probably made due to system stability. the system seems to read the meta folders when u get to the home menu. the more games, the longer it takes to load the home menu. that's most likely the reason for the limit.

Why don't you keep all the games on a separate backup drive and then install the ones you know you will play over the coming months? It makes far more sense. If you could install the amount you want then it would create a massive file allocation table and loading could become tiresome. It could also fragment the drive somewhat. Also bear in mind that with wear and tear, if the drive ever failed, that's a hell of a lot to lose. If it's on a backup drive which is only used to store and transfer across as and when, it would be a much safer option.

It would require modifications to system things which can result commonly in brick. [sysmenu.xml probably had a string(s) related to game limit but i don't think it changes anything, also i might got name wrongly]
If you like VC, grab RetroArch, download roms, bam! You don't need 80% of these VC games anymore.
If you just install a big pile of shitty indie games so you can brag to your friends then eh... That's sad. Very sad, or idiotic if you would ask me.

Don't make a big deal out of it. By 4 or 5 years from now we would all forget about the Wii U and its games, and kids would prefer the last-gen console instead of a Wii U. I know by the time my Gamepad breaks or stops working my Wii U is doomed, and it's hard to find a replacement.

Accept the reality: No console lives forever.

He doesn't have friends. No, really. He's always complaining that he lives a middle-of-nowhere town and that he has no friends. Really, him wasting money on digital crap is more obsessive than anything.

Not entirely true, I still have a PSP 2000 which I use regularly when I'm not at home using the emulator

The argument of "My kids may play them one day" is.. a little silly.. just get a computer as you have mostly VC games anyway it'll all run, and I'm not saying this to be rude but by the time you have kids I'd assume CEMU will run as great as the ps2 emulators do

Yes all 03bgood does is bitch about nintendo VC constantly he was a cancer over on the 3ds threads and the reason I no longer post there now it seems he wants to bring his toxic shit to the wiiu forums. Any form of criticism directed to him and he cries and says he is being bullied and reports you to the mods.
