The March 3 system update says nothing about fixing the joycon connectivity issues. People are also still reporting problems. Was there supposed to be a fix included?

Improvements Included in Version 2.0.0
The following network features are now available
* Nintendo Account required. Some features may not be available in all countries/regions.

  • Playing online
    • Online multiplayer available for free until the paid online service launches in fall 2017. Not available in all countries.
  • Adding friends
    • Friends can be added from My Page, head to the HOME Menu and select your icon on the upper left.
  • Sharing Album screenshots to Facebook and Twitter
  • Browsing and purchasing content on Nintendo eShop
  • Receiving News relating to games, Nintendo eShop discounts, and promotions
  • Earning My Nintendo points for game card (retail version)
Added the following system functionality

  • Update game software
  • Turn on the TV automatically when placing the Nintendo Switch console in the Nintendo Switch dock.
    • HDMI settings must also be enabled on your TV. Some TV models may be unable to use this feature. To turn on this feature for the Nintendo Switch console, head to System Settings > TV Settings > Match TV Power State
  • Display the battery percentage on the HOME Menu
    • To turn this ON/OFF, head to System Settings > System > Console Battery (%)
  • Format the microSD card
    • To format, head to System Settings > System > Initialize > Format microSD Card

i don't have any joycon connectivity issues have logged 10 hours into zelda already :P
I don't have it hooked up to a TV yet but was able to reproduce the left joyless Con issue at about 10' away with it behind my back. No problems at that distance with the Right or with trying to cover with my hand.

Regarding the system update. I ran the update last night when I got home. Then this morning I popped a 64GB mSD I had in. It required another update immediatedly but took less than a minute to download and install.

Did you update the console with the joycons attached? People have been having issues if they are not attached. You need to attach the joycons before updating, or alternatively attach them after and reboot the device twice. People have had success with that. Others have not.

I'm thinking it's the rebooting of the device and resetting the joycons that is fixing peoples problem since there was no mention of a joycon firmware update in the update notes.

Yes. I have read that several places as well and made sure they were attached during the entire download and update process.

As long as it doesn't happen during normal controller use from reasonable distances I don't have a problem with it. Controller behind the back? Who does that?

Given the variability of user experiences my hunch is it is interference from other signals. But still weird it is with the left for the most part.

I could see people putting the joycon behind their backs as well as swinging around or momentarily moving between an object, while playing games like 1-2-switch.

There is overwhelming evidence of a problem with the left Joycon, just because it does not affect the way some people play does not mean it should be ignored. Hopefully it is not a hardware issue with the console itself. I'd rather replace the joycons instead if it comes down to that, courtesy of Nintendo of course!

Inb4 people get joycons thrown through their tv screens.

The whole Joycon thing is seems to be either a slight HW flaw in a small percentage of units, since a lot of people didn't have any issues, or it could be a software issue, since half of people who were having issues before the D1 update got it fixed. If that's the latter, Ninty should power up the signal emitted by the LJC :P

Can say I have the left joycon issue. Sigh. That's concerning.

The small percentage is still far too much. With as many people reporting the problem day 1, you'd assume this would have been caught during mass testing.

People seriously, just update already... The bugs found (if now) will probably work on the newer versions as well.

Is it wise to update or should I leave it at stock?

Just update it. I doubt they would be patching any exploits with a day 1 patch. Plus you won't have much functionality until you update to 2.0

I am having the problem, the dock is like 4 feet from me, nothing in the way. If I play with the joycons in each hand and my knee gets in the way of the left joycon it will act strange (keep running in the last direction i was running and not respond at all). On the other hand if I put the right joycon behind my head it stops working. This is all in contrast to my car alarm keyfob that actually gets FURTHER range when I stick it up to my head.

I'm sure we'll probably regret updating at some point.. :)

I won't, I bought 2. 1 will sit in the box for a while, maybe I will use the extra dock. Unfortunately there probably won't be an exploit until the next Switch (XL?) revision. So I will probably end up selling it to someone eventually.
