Oh okay I didn't think I needed that, thank you very much! So I need to download both files and place them both on my SD card? Which will then give me the option of which game to dump, so I can then dump by ROMF files, then place them on my computer, extract them, randomizer them, and then probably get lost confused and frustrated after that point
Yep, you need to put that .xml file in the 3ds folder, along with the .3dsx file

Reminder that if you are UNDER version 11.3 on your 3DS you can setup custom firmware, which is a lot easier and better than using HANS

Btw, also reporting that, in my latest randomization, Shura (Jakob replacement) came in the Blacksmith class but he doesn't have the Oni tree; Oni Chieftain was absent and now that I reclassed him in Onmyoji I can't reclass him back in Blacksmith; also Azura (Silas replacement) came Songstress but she should have been a Spear Fighter

Okay. So. I'm at my wits end here. Can someone who's competent with this 3ds stuff help me out here?

I have the special edition .cia. Then, I try to get the romfs by putting it in ctrtool. The output file, when opened in romFS extractor tells me it's not valid. What steps do I need to take to get this stupid thing to work, starting from the top, because this is getting ridiculous.

did you install it to the 3ds and then dump it with something like hourglass? when I did it, it only worked if i did it the way i just said, the cia that i installed (not dumped) is missing exeheader or something.

Ahh, I have to do that, huh? All I did was find a decrypted .3ds and a .cia and tried to extract the romfs from either, without success. I'll try installing it this time, then dumping it with that tool you mentioned. What a confusing process! Thanks.

with that nyx problem, i did all the troubleshooting method and resorted to deleting the dispos/b/b009 file and screwed the recruitment up. it makes nyx have a randomized class and can not be talked to. i guess I wont be getting Oboro / Nyx in this run. @thane98 any idea why that happens?

Again I need help, I've dumped my ROMFs and extracted them, but when I click open and verify on the folder of the extracted ROMFs nothing happens, an I suppose don't to go into one of the folders inside that?? I just don't know how to randomise everything

The recruitment relies on both the map script and the dispo file. If you replace the dispo file, the recruitment script will never run because it's waiting for you to talk to Nyx's replacement, not Nyx. The only way to recruit Nyx if the conversation isn't working would require replacing both the dispo and script file.

eh i dont care about nyx anymore i just want to continue. but it'd be nice if it was fixed, the nyx replacement wall thing error. thanks anyway

Nope, you've got it wrong. Move the castle, GameData, m, and Scripts folders to a folder called Birthright/Conquest/fefatesSE (depends on which game you're randomizing) on the root of your SD card. Delete the RandomizerSettings.xml and the ._layeredfs.plg as well. Then launch BootNTR and Fates.

Okay thanks, I did that. But I still think I did something wrong, as I'm up to chapter 3 and absolutely nothing is different. Is it supposed to be that way until the story split?

EDIT: Nevermind! It is working, as Ike showed up as Xander lol. Thanks again!

Are you seeing a green flash when you boot the game? What game and what language (I'm assuming US) are you playing? It's recommended to start a new save file. Worse comes to worse, get clean files and re-randomize.

Are you seeing a green flash when you boot the game? What game and what language (I'm assuming US) are you playing? It's recommended to start a new save file. Worse comes to worse, get clean files and re-randomize.
No green flash, but the game is running a bit awkwardly. I did start a brand new save, as well. The character models in cutscenes are completely different, so it's working on some level, but now I've moved past the story split, and the actual characters in battle are the same as normal. I'm so utterly baffled. I suppose starting from scratch is my only option.

I would try re-randomizing using clean files and use the .plg from the Gay Fates hack. Your plugin folder structure looks correct, so the .plg might be corrupt or something. You have the castle, m, GameData and Scripts folder in a folder called fefatesSE on the root of your SD card, yes? Are you using BootNTR Selector, if yes, which version of NTR (3.2, 3.3, or 3.4)?

Just trying to get all of the basic questions out of the way first. Did you decrypt the CIA file first?

Hi, I seem to be having a similar (if not the same) issue, I've re randomized the game 2 or 3 times, and nothing seems to be working. I've included the same-sex patch as recommended in the OP, and my file structure should be correct. Any idea what I should do?

That looks correct. I would try re-randomizing, replace the .plg, and I would also try using NTR 3.3 or 3.2. I've noticed that 3.4 (with BootNTR Selector's recent updates) has started to not like Fates.
