Looking at the specs it has half the ram of the normal ps4 and Xbox one if there's not enough ram and cpu and gpu power how are they going to port the games?

But the rams a 4gb difference you would have to do alot to make it use 4gb less ram.
Not really, think of how much space you're saving from going to 4K (PC) or 1080p supersampled (PS4/Pro) to either 1080p or 720p on the Switch. Plus RAM available to developers is somewhere in the ballpark of <3.5GB, while iirc the amount of usable RAM on the PS4 is around >5GB (so not a HUGE difference)

So far the indies are kind of trickling in to fill in the launch. I'd like to think that the Switch will eventually be interchangeable with a PlayStation in terms of library, but first it has to prove itself as marketable (which Nintendo is doing a much better job of this gen than with the Wii U)

how do you expect people here to know what unannounced are getting 3rd party support? also, comparing the switch to a ps4/xb1 is like comparing a i5 haswell to a skylake i7 pc build. Yes there are going to be major differences, but not enough to make a major difference in gaming. Also, here is the specs of the ps4 and xb1. not very different from the switch cpu power http://www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/Xbox_One_Hardware_Specs http://www.ign.com/wikis/playstation-4/PlayStation_4_Hardware_Specs (ps4 has a bit more cpu and ram power. but the switch has a nvidia gpu inside).

I live Nintendo, but I think they are fucking around with gimmicked up 5 year old hardware again and going to get shut out on third party games again which will be another failure.

I am not liking the hardware already & I don't expect quality third party support, endless game drought inc.

I believe you are very, very mistaken :) We will see as I will be @ GDC next week...

It's a portable Nintendo system... of course it's gonna have support and sell like hotcakes.

On the matter of specs, the DS was weaker than the PS2 or PS3, the 3DS is surely weaker than the PS3 or PS4... yet it managed to sell pretty good.

Nintendo just needs to make a Pokemon game for it and it will sell 8 million units for that game alone.

I need a SNES Mini...

Hardware is super old (older than 5 years old), it's expensive, accessories are expensive, need to pay to go online (when Nintendo's network is unproven), need to use a cellphone for online stuff.

The third party support will be just as bad as the Wii U. Hell, some western developers are already saying their major games won't be on it.

The only thing the Switch can do is battle the Xbox One for second place, the PS4 is the winner this gen.

Also, I bet Japanese developers will eventually only care about portable mode. They will ignore docked mode altogether, which means the docked version will have the same frame rate, resolution and graphics.

The Wii only did good because half of the sales are casual people who touched the console once and then let it gather dust. However, casuals today would rather buy a 600$ iPad than a WiiU or Switch and the hardcore gamers are gonna buy a gaming pc, a ps4 or a Xbox. The only people buying a Switch are the hardcore nintendo fans and their numbers are getting smaller each gen.

I think it won't have a lot of third party support because is too weak, even if it sells 100 millions of switch, it could have the third party support the Wii had, it was different, but not the same as on the 360 and ps3 due to be too weak

Ports will require significant time/resources.
PS4/XB1/PC are all using x86 architecture.
Switch is using ARM architecture.
So comparing the clock speeds is just stupid.
ARM processors are designed to be low power, they are incredibly weak compared to x86 based CPUs.

It is more likely that ports of 3ds/mobile games will be the norm. Especially with the low SDK cost, I'd imagine most of the bigger mobile developers are already planning on porting their games.
Some AAA developers may choose to use the time/resources to port their lower end games to switch.

You should be more interested in original games. A game designed to run on the switch from the getgo is likely to be significantly better than some incredibly reduced port of older games.

this thread has become depressing. we've already killed the switch before its release. I for one want the system to succeed. besides, without Nintendo, there would be a lack of innovation. if u want power, go with pc gaming.

With talks of RE7 coming to the Switch it's hard to say, the system definitely has Unreal Engine 4 and a lot of power so there's that
the question is also how good the first year is, it may be alright because of how they games are all spaced out, Maybe it will get the games
Is it on par with PS4, hopefully it's almost as powerful, do we know yet?

You do know we get ports to the ps3/x360 and they have less ram then the switch.
Also it is said that nintendo has finally got on board and made programming for it easier.
So i believe we will see a good deal of 3d party.
As long as they dont do stupid gimmicky stuff and they meet sells it will do good.

I hope they stick to the new games and not just ports or old or current.
That is what kills there sells.
No one wants to pay the same price for a lesser game.
What i mean by that is if battlefield made a nee game. 90% of the people would get it on ps4/x1
The other 10% would be switch users. Reason the switch ver might not support ful online (64plyers) or it just has more on the other systems.
Thats what kills support. The 3rd party devs thinks no one is going to buy there game on the switch so they stop making them.

Now of they realeased a game that is switch only.
A nee type of battlefield that isnt on the ps4/x1.
Them more people would buy it.

So if dev stick to this then they will do well.
If not then people will have to choice there system of choice.
I have all systems and 95% of the time i choice ps4 over x1.
Imo the ps4 is faster, and just smooth, ipay for online so i mainly buy for that system.
X1 i mainly get ms only games
And wiiu nintendo only.

So giving the same exact game on all 3 system. I might frav ps4 unless i want to play something on the go or if the switch ver has good local muplti.

Just my thoughtd on it
