Can't you just change the default images to the ones you want if you access the retro arch folder rather than doing it in the program? I thought that if you replaced them with new images with the same name it would work.
I don't know about that nor am I planing to add retro arch to my nes mini. But maybe if we replace them with the same name it could work.

I'm trying to make a main menu with folders for each system. I dropped all NES, SNES, and GB games into three folders with system titles so that when I start the NES Classic it lets me enter that particular system to access the games. No problem in doing this. However, I assumed that it would then automatically sort all of those games into sub folders (grouped 30 per folder) as it did previously. It did not, and when I launched the NES folder it attempted to index all 200 of my NES games and I got a C8 error. So I obviously need to reflash and break the games into folder groups of 30 within each system. My question is whether there is an automatic way to divide them equally within a main folder?

EDIT: Nevermind. Figured it out. Have to populate the auto-folders manually within each main system folder.

Loving the custom folders!

Of course you can... just put your custom folder image in the "folder_images" folder and when you get to the custom folder options, just click on the folder itself and it will bring up a box that allows you to change it... since your custom folder icon will be in the folder, you will be able to choose it... works like a charm!
Thanks very much brother

Just made a quick mod of the RetroArch mod. I don't like video smoothing so just disabled it in the config file. If someone don't want video smoothing and something near pixel perfect (like the NES games) use this.

Just unzip and move the folder to user_mods. http://www.filedropper.com/retroarch-nosmoothhmod

Thx for that question: How are games running for you? I have some slowdowns with GBA Games (Metroid Fusion) and Snes (Super Mario World) any Idea what I could change in the config?

That works brilliantly, thank you.

I've noticed that it only work in Pixel Perfect mode though, which is what I've been using anyway. Using either or the other two seems to add even more blurring.

Hey guys, I'm using hakchi2 v2.11 and I've already hacked my nes mini, but when I try to do my buddies mini, it's not taking the custom kernel at all. It's going thru the entire process and says it's done, but when I plug in to verify it's just the same old set of included games. Any help would be appreciated, TY!
The best it's clone your hakchi2 folder. The copied folder rename to your buddy's name ;)
Then edit the file config.ini (if you are in 2.11 this file is in the root)
CustomFlashed=False

Enjoy!

How to run nestopia please?
As I do with the binary "manolito" you can copy the nes(in the /retroarch.hmod/bin ) and paste in same place
THe copied "nes - copy" file rename it to nes2
Edit this nes2 file and change the core from FCEUmm to Nestopia (Use Notepad++)
Then In hakchi2 in the command line of the game that you want to run with Nestopia put nes2 instead nes ;)

Is there any way to force the NESC to use Retroarch instead of the default emulator, but without going into Retroarch itself? Some games don't work very well but they do start with the default emulator.

Maybe a command line argument that could be typed in the gui perhaps?

Thank you so much, I hope others find this as useful as I have.

As I was expecting, it's such a simple thing to do when you know how to do it. It worked perfectly this time, I'm going to sort some SNES games out now and the kids can have a play with it tomorrow night.

Awesome! Glad to be of help ;)

Same. It's a bit glitchy and not smooth. Check my video and we what happens.

Hi! How did you get those emulator icons and NES Sleeve icons on there? And what do those emulator icons do? Run a different emulator of your choosing? I remember seeing a post LOOONG ago with the sleeves but I didnt save..Doh! Do you have the file or remember the page number? Thanks

Add --retroarch and the end of the command line of the NES game that you want bypass the NESCE emulator.

That sounds like something I was really wanting. Thanks.

to confirm, after unzipping I should move the entire "retroarch-no_smooth.hmod" folder to "user_mods"?

EDIT:
I'm probably asking questions that have really obvious answers but am I replacing the original "retroarch" module with the one created?
that's it :) move the complete folder and install via menu

would it be helpful if i created a quick video showing the hakchi features like customizing folder art and sorting games into folders?

It certainly wouldn't hurt if you have the time to do so ;)
Thanks in advance since I know others have many questions about this new, awesome program :D

yes, that's true. A problem from RetroArch cores or settings and not from the NESCE itself, it's hard to apply perfect settings, but this helped in making them more "pure".

Hi! I've just made this thinking of Master System games, as i don't have any pro controller to test other things. Anyway, slowdowns are a problem of cores, and not from settings. Maybe with Threade Video enabled, you could get some improvement but not sure if it works. I can make another zip with threade video on, if you want to try it and see if it helps.

Forgot to mention this, it only works in Pixel Perfect mode. Again, that's something that RetroArch can't handle, when you choose another aspect ratio, RetroArch won't keep up with the NESCE, thus blurring the image because it stays with the old mode. In order to make it right, RetroArch should change for itself when something changes in the main shell but that's something impossible to achieve having two softwares applying different values :\
