Kinda related, is there any edit to the Home Menu that let's you see your battery percentage besides the battery icon? I usually open up 3dsident every time i want to know how much battery i have left and just not guess between:

100-60% 4bars
60-30% 3bars
30-15%2bars
15-5%1bar
5-0% Blinking led-no bars

Yes, but someone would need to write code for that (most likely directly in assembly, or with similar unfriendly restrictions) and hack it into Home's code...

That would probably break most CFW and not be update-friendly. I remember updates failed for people with custom fonts back in the day.

Nah, all the major ones today don't rely on fixed-address patches anymore

If you have problems with official updates, the simplest workaround is installing the cias manually or with SysUpdater...
(Implying any useful improvement has been added to Home in the past 2 years; in fact I personally use the 7.x/8.x home which has much better performance!)

Yeah, you have a point.
I'm just talking about the users that installed a custom font, then couldn't use 3DNUS to download the official home menu cia to revert the changes and be able to update.
How exactly do you use a 7.x/8.x Home menu if later firmwares require 9.5 as a minimum, 11.3 requiring 11.3 as the minimum?

Hm? it's each individual title that requires a minimum kernel version, not viceversa, so you can indeed use (on O3DS only, for different reasons) 8.1 home, every other system title from 11.3, and a 11.3 kernel

(and since the 11.3 kernel requirement is bullshit, it's possible to edit the dependencies to run 11.3 with the 11.2 kernel... which actually improves performance lol)

Yes, i know that. I never imagined the Home Menu was not included in that list. Wait, 8.x menu means you lack theme support (which was the only useful feature we got in years).

How did you come across this? Experimenting? :P
That's really interesting. So the kernel requirement is 2.52-0 (11.2 iirc) instead of requiring latest?

No, you're misunderstanding this part...

You can use an old application with a new kernel
You can't use a new application with an old kernel (the definition of "old" is in the application's header)

So, you can hack the application to have a lower minimum version number (this was actually very common in the early Gateway days where you had to stay on 4.x even though 6.0+ was around, a few times it didn't work because the application really used new kernel functions, most of the time the version requirement was bullshit and it actually worked)!
Or you can hack the old kernel to report a higher version number. I don't know which way Yellows8 used in his test, but that's how you can use an older kernel than normal :)

Good thing people have the freedom of choice, because an icon for amiibo settings and low-quality JPEG wallpapers VS not having to scroll down to adjust brightness and much faster icon loading, is not something I consider useful :)

(Downgrading Home also breaks Ninjhax2 and ports, and thus .3dsx; not like I've ever used them in the last year and half)

How did you come across this? Experimenting?
The idea of mixing versions in general? It's something so obvious, once you start learning about the system, that you don't even really think about it anymore: my 8.1 home cia with high version to prevent update nags is almost a year old, the idea of downgrading whitelist/twlfirm is probably older, even partial updates (friends driver) were common when Nintendo first started blocking old versions from online and CFWs did not have the friends version patch yet!

I was just gonna ask this as I don't really like the 24hr format, but guess I'll have to make do with it. I typically switch the night time to say time so it shows in AM/PM.
