Trailers* for these games ran in 720p. If you have any evidence of any game actually running on Switch hardware while docked at 720p, please provide it. Otherwise STFU with your purposefully misleading bullshit.
Digital foundry on youtube. They have pixel counters and did so with every game. Atleast i provide evidence. You just make claims without backing anything up ;) also stop bringing up RMX. RMX is not really a heavy taxing game on the GPU. The switch runs most in 720p and some ib 1080p. Medium settings unreal engine with no AA. Those are facts and if you have different facts then please do provide me instead of blabbing on what you think it is. Whatever your fanboy mind makes up aren't facts. Sorry to bust your nuts. And NOOO the switch power difference isn't minor with the xbox one like you're claiming again a comment above. The xbox one is already underpowered and still a long way ahead of the switch in power. I think you don't know what you're talking about. You don't provide proof for your claims and you keep claiming the switch almost being as powerful as an xbox one.
Also you do know that VR doesn't work on a 720p screen? Even oculus and vive still have problems with the screen door effect while running in 1440p and a bit above 1080p per eye. 720p VR would mean visually around 480p per eye so no it's not going to work. Oculus and vive both said for VR to work properly you need a 4k screen so that you can provide above 1440p per eye

I've already evidenced several other games running at 1080p on Switch. You've evidenced zero running at 720p in docked mode, only trailers. So I guess we're done here until you want to stop acting like a child and come back with something concrete.

My comments about VR did not suggest I wanted to see VR on Switch. I already own a Vive.

Yup gameplay trailers.
Plus footage running on the actual hardware at expo's with pixel counters ;). Giving me examples of indie games wich can almost run on every system in 1080p is not really giving me examples at all. In that regard even my old S2 or S3 could run games in 1080p and probably even 1440p
All i'm giving you is concrete information and all you are giving me is not anything concrete.
I've given you splatoon 2 docked 720p as an example as seen on gameplay footage from expo's and so on. I've given you the example of mario running docked in 720p from the trailer.
Here is another post wich has all the games with their respected resolutions and if they're using AA or not in it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/5notoh/frame_rate_and_resolution_gamebygame/. It has around the same power a xbox 360 does or a ps3. Doesn't even come close to current gen. You do know that the Wii U is underpowered compared to last gen tho even if it came out later ? Prime examples would be games like Ninja gaiden running in AA with more textures compared to the Wii U counterpart. The switch is a powerful machine for a handheld and around the same power as an xbox 360 or ps3 has and maybe a bit more powerful but to keep saying it almost has the same power as an xbox one is just ridiculous. Don't get me wrong i'm buying one and looking forward to it but my opinion is biased and i'm still not giving Nintendo a free pass. I think they should be criticized a lot more for every thing they are doing wrong instead of stroking their enormous ego a bit more and praising them to the heavens. Critique is healthy in a business like this because otherwise they won't hear the fuck what you're saying and eventually fail in the end wich they almost did with the Wii U so let's hope they don't fuck up now wich i have my doubts about seeing as i don't see the Switch running for a couple of years more unless the handheld part of the switch catches on and completely overtakes the 3DS. Being a handheld that's the only way i see the Switch being succesful but as a home console it won't so don't expect the same triple A titles in the future being released on the switch seeing as they already need heavy downgrades to make it run on the hardware as we saw with dragon quest heroes.

Tldr- ps5, and i aint a fanboy of it

1. I dont think the scorpio is next gen- it might be just a hardware iteration like ps4 pro or n3ds. So it wont be really next gen.
2. Why should sony release another console right after the ps4 pro? It seems unlikely

The xbox doesnt really have a lot of exclusives, most of them just got ported to pc and other consoles so i dont see them winning the next gen
Also the switch isnt much more powerful then the ps3 or wiiu, so its also not really next gen... it just replaces the wiiu which died and now they try to forget it and continue... its a portable console which could be docked, not the other way around, because it has a slow (portable) core, just like a smartphone, and I dont think it will perform a way better then a smartphone that will be out in the next two years... they could make it compatible with android games and I think that will be awesome.

Anyways tbe switch dont seem to be a best- selling console, I mean- who would buy it at launch unless hes a zelda fan? It doesnt seem to get as much of 3rd party as they say- I mean, ps3 fifa? r u serious? And skyrim, the game that wss ported to every other platform? Thats what u show us to convince us that u do have 3rd party? And the good 1st party games come out just half a year after launch- just enough time to re-think and stop being hiped.it will probably fail (not that I like it...)

The ps4 and ps4 pro on the other hand have a great library of games and lots of fans. They are winning right now, so it will give them a headstart at the next gen (see ps2 success for more info.) when it will arrive.

I really think that now is the last gen of consoles- they can continue with just hardware iterations for a long time...
So either ps5/4 will win or if u count it- pc.

Yeah, I already covered that in my post. Clearly you have nothing new to add?

Also, you're kinda diminishing your assertion that Switch can't run PS4 ports by posting a picture of a PS4 port, aren't you? Hell, I believe it even runs in 1080p. Completely destroying your own stupid arguments here.

I did, gave you an entire list of games with their resolutions and so much more. You're just in fanboy denial mode now.
I read the link, and the only three games listed as 720p were Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, and Xenoblade 2, all three of which are trailers for incomplete games. ARMs is also listed as 720p, and the first trailer might've been, but the game is 1080p60. So again, you've provided nothing other than trailers to back your assertions, and you've diminished your own argument by posting a screenshot of a 1080p PS4 port.

Good going there editing your post after i said something ;) I never said anywhere it can run ports ? Please provide me evidence where i said that since i can't seem to find it anywhere ? Have i claimed anywhere that dragon quest is not running in 1080P? Don't put words in my mouth that i didn't say just to fuel your fanboy points !!!!!!! I said heavily DOWNGRADED ! Please provide me evidence of all your claims wich fanboys always seem to fail at but instead they put words in your mouth you didn't even say just to make a point. I seem to remember me saying it runs MOST games in 720p and not me saying like you're claiming it to be running all games in 720p. If you want to prove a point then please provide evidence backing your claims instead of starting to blatantly flat-out lie !!!

At this point I think I'll just let you argue with yourself, because apparently you think the Switch is simultaneously powerful enough to run most PS4 ports in 1080p, and also so underpowered that first-party Nintendo games will be forced to run at 720p in docked mode.

:rofl2:

You're pulling my post again out of context just to make your point. It's clear you're an idiot who can't comprehend basic English because i don't see me saying that anywhere. All you do is blatantly flat-out lie just to prove your points wich are false. Like i said "HEAVILY DOWNGRADED". Don't you get that word ? If you don't i suggest going back to school.

I understand entirely how it works, which is why I'm tired of discussing apples vs oranges with you. We have evidence of games being ported from XB1/PS4 to Switch already, and they're typically 1080p. For UE4 and Unity at least, the Switch's power difference with XB1 is minor enough that porting is simple. That's the reality of it. We don't need to discuss 720p docked Switch games until one actually releases.

It depends on the engine. With Unity and UE4 at least, porting between PC and consoles (including Switch) has been made relatively simple. These are also some of the easiest engines to build VR support into a game with.

That must've taken a very very long time, or he's using modified assets from something else. It still appears pretty barren relative to something like say, GTA 5.
You can't port a game 1:1 to another Console. You always have to change part of codes. Just a really basic example. \r\n => New Line under Windows | \n => new Line under Linux. \r\n would be messing with the display on older linux systems. Sooo you have to make a independet way to check what system is running and based on it make the right new line. If you didn't planned to make you app work in Linux, that will be more work to port it.

No, i doesn't only depends on the engine. You can't just take for example "Clustertruck" a PC Game made in Unity and Recompile it with Unity to the 3DS. Since you have to downgrade the graphics / effects, change Input scripts and Output for the Displays (DPI) and and. And if you finally could compile and run the game on a OK-GOOD rate on the new device, you have to fully test it again. From beginnig to start, since everything can now be ucked in any part of the game. A Engine is not a All-In-One Kit for all problems. It just help with the basics of the game. The brain, the code is still the main Part of the Game.

If i'm not wrong about 2-6 Years. He did it in his spare time after work (I think he is studying). He bought some assets and also payed few guys for different moddeling things, but the game itself is made by 1 guy.

Just get a Raspberry PI. Create a simple Python script which coun prime numbers and let the this EXACT script run on your PC and the PI. Let us look which make it higher untill it dies. And don't even try to say it has to be compiled for ARM - Linux! Python is a cross-platform intepreter language.

The only way Switch wins is: people care about gaming in the car, in the bathroom and in bed. You can't do that with competing products. The Switch Super Bowl ad shows off this feature.
I don't think people care about the feature enough to buy it over competitors, but I could be wrong about this.

* Sony will continue its comfortable lead with the PS4 (& derivatives)
* Xbox One (and derivatives) will continue to be second place (many having bad memories of Microsofts colossal e-waste hardware Red Ring Of Death problems on previous hardware)
* The King of Saving Yen will remain a distant third home console player, just like it is now. The short-lived Wii and Wii U paperweights are still an all-too-grim reminder of the money people wasted by trusting Nintendo. Outside of Nintendo enthusiast circles, I believe the sentiment on the Nintendo brand has gone down - not up - in the years following the Wii.

Even if I was into Sony games, as a customer I'd not be interested in buying a PS4, Ps4 Neo, AND PS5 all within 4 years of each other. For the price I spend it total I could've just bought a PC and be done with it.

I honestly think It's insane to launch so may consoles so quickly. Even Nintendo learned from the mistakes of Sega and chose to stumble along for a few more years instead of prematurely killing the Wii U.

Be aware that this game is not finish. No trailer to comparison either so do not trust the incomplete game just yet.

I guess they all want to capitalize on the 4K trend going on now.
PS5, I can't imagine that being released until at least 2020. 2018 or 2019 would be too early. Way too early.

the difference from 480p to 1080p was pretty huge. The difference from 1080p to 4k? Not as dramatic, and almost all visible difference can be mitigated by decent upscaling. I'm not going to say 4K is a gimmick because it's be annoying to be proven wrong after such a statement, But the vast majority of people I've talked to either have no interest in 4K or cannot give any answer to why they want it besides "it sounds cool." That's a little concerning.

Think about this for a second: If gaming PCs are SOO much better graphically then consoles then why are they constantly outsold by consoles? Or even worse, you have "console pheasants" that have utterly convinced themselves that they are experiencing the best possible graphics. That leads me to assume that we have more-or-less reached a point where better graphics are not really that significant, and that the PS4 is "Good enough." PSVR was Sony's attempt to mitigate that and come up with a new reason for better graphics, and so far it's just not catching on as well as they hoped. For the vast majority of users I don't think they will see any reason to buy a PS4 Neo or PS5 as opposed to either saving their money by sticking with the PS4 or spending a little more to get real graphics in a PC. Hell, the PS2's insanely long life is proof that graphics don't sell systems as well as good games do. If developers decide to keep bringing their games to the PS4 then the PS5 is DOA. The PS5 is nothing more than more expensive PS4, while the Switch is an entirely new console that promises new ways to play.

The game engine can handle such differences behind the scenes. Using your example of the difference between inserting a new line in Windows and Linux, I can make use of the pre-processor to execute system specific implementation behind the scenes while the programmer writes system neutral code.

#ifdef _WIN32
#define _NL \r\n
#elif __linux__
#define _NL \n
#endif

So then to print something, all one has to do is make use the defines made in the preprocessor:
printf("this will create a new line in:" _NL "Windows" _NL "Linux" _NL);

again, that requires you to have done that in the first place. You can't just take a game made for another platform and run search&replace and expect it to work.

It's kind of the point of a multi-platform game engine to support multiple platforms. Create an API for developers to use that will handle such platform-dependent implementations behind the scenes.
