Hey! So my little brother accidentally ran Tinyformat on my Luma 6.6 Sysnand. We were freaking out when it booted from scratch, with the enter name and other stuff that comes on the first time you start it. However, it seems like I still have FBI installed and Luma settings when I press select+start during boot. Also checked the SD card, and all my files seem to be there, but my homescreen lost all CIA's. Is there any way I can get back to my "old" homescreen with all the CIA's there? I have little space on my SD card left, so it feels like they are still installed on it, but not showing up.

You can as long as you have a nand backup.

If you have A9LH, then you should restore your NAND backup. It might be old, but you should be able to reinstall the cias (or tickets) for any titles still not showing up.

They are still there, your NAND just now lacks the tickets for those titles and hence you cannot see or run them. Restoring a NAND backup will allow you to run any title that had been installed when the NAND backup was made.

Also, just get rid of TinyFormat so things like this don't happen.

Also, just get rid of TinyFormat, it's effectively no longer used anymore.

Thanks for the response guys! I made a NAND backup when I first moved to A9LH, so yeah it's pretty old. I didn't have any of the games I currently use on that backup so I don't think restoring it will help much unfortunately. Are the CIA's "installed" on the SD card in some directory so I can delete them? Seems like they are taking up a lot of space. I dont mind installing them all again I guess, just need the space for it.

Restore your NAND backup. You can just reinstall the tickets for those titles using something like CIAngel, and you'll be able to access them again. For homebrew apps installed as cias, you can just reinstall them again; they won't take up more space if you reinstall them.

Remember: if you do that then you'll loose all your saves. We romend you just to install the tikets.

Sweet, will be looking for the tickets then! Thanks for the help, good to see i'm not as boned as I thought I was.

So I downloaded ciAngel, any way for me to just reinstall the tickets without redownloading the CIA's? I actually downloaded the games on my previous homescreen from Freeshop, any way I can do it from there? I restored my NAND backup from before.

i think you can install tickets for certain games via freeShop by starting a download for a game and canceling it

Hmm, tried that but none of the games show up on my homescreen. Right now I have maybe 6-7GB of games installed before formating that don't really show up anywhere. There has to be a way to get them back somehow right? Like you guys said, if I install the tickets, do they show up on the homescreen again, since the system somehow knows they are there or will I have to redownload everything? In that case I guess I have to delete everything installed. Pretty frustrating if all my saves are gone, but I guess that stuff happens.

Managed to find the tickets from CIAngel and add them. Found the corresponding ticket in FBI, bit everytime i try to install from tickets, it downloads from the Eshop or somewhere. I have no idea how to tell it to look for the game on the device, as the files are already there. On the big ones it tells me I don't have enough space, but I added nothing to the SD card since they were there this morning. So I lost all my games but they are sill taking up tons of space, so I cant even reinstall them. This whole thing makes no sense to me :/

So you added the tickets and you can see your games IN FBI, is that correct?

Not quite, they don't show up in the "Titles" section where the other installed CIA's are, but they do show up in thet "Tickets" tab and I can "install from CDN" as an option.

Your games might be corupted, try checking your SD card for errors

SD card seems fine, tried moving everything to another one just in case, but nothing shows up still. Starting to lose hope for getting them back with my old saves. Do you know where they are located, so I can atleast delete them and get the space back? Atleast I can leave freeshop downloading overnight and have the games back by tomorrow if I can retrieve the storage space. Thanks a lot for sticking around and trying to help.

Your games and saves are located in "Nintendo 3DS" folder, but DO NOT touch anything in there. As far as i know you can break your 3DS if you delete certain files in there.

You're going about this the wrong way. First, you NEED to restore your NAND backup. There's no optional here, it has to be done. The contents on your SD card (games AND saves) are encrypted to a key that changes when you format your NAND. Even if you reinstall all the games and tickets, you won't get your saves back. Restoring the NAND backup to get your old encryption key back is vital in order to keep your save games.

Once the NAND is restored, you may see the games on your home screen again but will be unable to launch them due to missing tickets. Using CIAngel or TikDevil to install the tickets you had will allow you to run those games again. For the games that need SEEDs too, you can get those through FBI or by visiting the games page on the eShop.
