I did not update my 3ds yet. I'm still on 11.2.0-35u. I was just about to start the arm9 luma process. Is it safe to do so still? I didn't update so I figured i can still do the process real quick and get it over with.

wait should i unistall ntr cfw then?

NTR is NOT a CFW. It must be run on top of a CFW.

RXtools isn't a cfw

LOL WUT?

Downgrading by hardmod still works. They would need to make a hardware revision to patch IIRC.

Those comments are about people who don't have a full nand backup for a previous firmware. Before fasthax, if you picked up a brand new system on 12.2, you had to do some trickery to get a downgrade. That method is broken now. Nothing will ever prevent you from flashing a complete backup with a hardmod, except for 1 very specific thing that must be done on purpose (and I won't explain it, but you never have to worry about it).

Seriously never heard of big N? It's nintendo sigh

*Explains big N

**spells Nintendo with a small "n"

rofl!!!

Gateway 3DS (arm9 payload, emuNAND) black screen on 11.3.
I'll test my sky3DS if I ever find it but I doubt it got patched.

Same as NTR. Gateway uses hard coded addresses for patching the home menu, so they need to update it. the .dat file should be the only thing that needs updating.

does gw cfw still works? (not a9lh, just gw)

See above. They need to update, but it will work eventually. They are super slow, so it might be a week... or a month...

So let me see if I understand this correctly:

  • A whole bunch of idiots are still using RxTools and are now whining about how it's dead even though Luma has been superior forever.
  • Nintendo put out a slightly more competent update compared to last time, but they're still incompetent.
  • There are a ton of 11.3 threads already (what a surprise).
  • People still can't read in 2017.
  • As much as I like giving CFW to the masses, maybe 11.3's patches will chase off the braindead people.

  • Well it's not like rxTools users did not get warnings about rxTools not getting updates and about Nintendo being able to patch it out. They thought they were despised for not using the "masterrace" setup... but no, just because they were idiots and now need to do what they could do ages ago, which they were told would happen...
  • Yeah, their update still don't bother too much people. But at least we're going to get less annoying people arguing about keeping now officially non-working software... except if they try to ask "can i keap rxtols and get franknfrimwhere cuz i'm afrayd of briks with Luna" -.-
  • Make GBATemp great again!
  • Sorry, I don't get that sentence.
  • See point 2, but also not necessarily. I mean, it was possible to tell "noobs" (as in "people who are new to everything", not necessarily "idiots") to just follow the guide. But now they're going to ask stuff like "but what about setting up a custom server to fake-update back to 11.2 or hardmodding through wifi?" because they'll be desperate.

This will probably surprise you but there's probably only two queries regarding its status in the many threads compared to a significantly larger number of posts mocking RxTools and celebrating the fact that it is patched out. The only whining being done is by the latter, who for one reason or another, seem to find the need to resort to name calling.
Case in point.....

I honestly doubt the patch will change anything. These same people will continue to not do any research whatsoever and come asking the same question anyway.

that's because most rxtools users aren't aware of 11.3 yet
Idk, just woke up to 64 threads about 11.3 and obviously didn't read all pages. Though now that you mention it, I did see quite a few posts about "celebrating" (lol, including the one just above) and only saw one post "complaining" (and not even that much in a sad way).
On the other hand, I guess the non-rxTools people got fed up with rxTools people long ago and rxTools users had better be quiet now.

Speaking of NTR, I've always had (and still have) a white border that cutoff the left side of the top screen on a screenshot, is that normal?

alright
I guess after following the guide means I'm on luma 6.6. I went ahead and did the update.
now I'm on 11.3. All the emulators still work. I loaded chmm2 and changd my custom themes and they still work.
I tried bunch of games I loaded through cia and free shop and they all work. Luma still works. Freeshop still works I succesfully downloaded a nd played a game. while I don't have a cia I can install without making room on my sd card fbi loaded so I assume it works.

homebrew launcher does not work. I don't think I really need it anyway.

Well, Nintendo finally had enough with those rxTools and GW users and decided to push people onto newer better CFW solutions; It is about time.

LMFAO better CFW solutions on 11.3 = Please don't patch safehax. But they did.
But yeah for us current CFW users, bye rxTools and some other CFW. Luma still lives! Hurray!

Except that this is not true for Gateway. They have always been patched out then GW updated their stuff (after some time yeah, hence the Gatewait meme). But still, you can't say that the 11.3 is the one update that pushes them out.

I friggin' swear, all the RxTools comments make me want to hit my head on a brick wall sometimes.

But you're right - it might help, it might not. The stupid won't stop coming. I was mainly thinking about the people who still asked 20 questions even when they were all answered in the guide, though.

That definitely would surprise me, considering how many posts I've seen about RxTools across the multiple 11.3 threads. I agree though, it probably won't change anything. I wish it would. It should be illegal for people to be a certain amount of stupid. Then again, if that were the case, my father would be in jail. Hmm.

I'm actually hoping for a mini-CFW (similar to NTR CFW) that will actually read any Gateway-based flash cards.

With the 11.3 update gives us a constant reminder that the Gateway-based flash cards as well as their software need to be reverse engineered so that we can find out how they work and how to develop software that can do RAM editing functions and read 3DS ROMs from flash cards, as well as the project being open-source so that it can be constantly updated by a huge community, without much wait between newer updates to support newer firmwares.

It would also be nice if that software could also store save files on the flash card's microSD card as well.
