I have an original psp (1001) model with a millennium edition ( ME) CFW.
How would i go about taking this off?

It has an older (ME) version and i wanted to update to a newer version or possibly even some other alternatives but first i need to take this one off.

You want to switch CFW or go to stock?

then just update it normally with the 6.61 or 6.60 if you want 6.60, official eboot.pbp? or event just updating it via System Update, delete everything on the Memory Stick Duo Pro, and that's it.

Here:

And Here:

Just for curiosity, is there any reasons why you would like to remove the CFW instead of updating it?

Thanks for the reply

However, that's actually one of the first things i tried it won't work

i am already on 6.60 ( i wouldn't want to update past 6.60 into 6.61)

I get a message saying i am already on latest firmware and no need to update
Deleting contents of the sd card will do nothing because like i stated before this is a permanent mod and can't be removed like LME by simply removing contents from the sd card.

My reason for removing it is that some games crash, i can't seem to update it and before settling on a new CFW i want to try non permanent installs so i just wanted to go back to stock official 6.60 firmware

There is a text file on one of the partitions (not the memory stick) that specifies the version you have that gets checked when you update. "Prometheus" CFWs spoofed it to version 9 or something, so I had to change it when I wanted to install a different one. I don't remember exactly how but see below for the general idea.

I think what you do is go into recovery menu, switch the partition that gets displayed when you connect USB (usually it's memory stick), connect USB and modify the file (make it version 1.00 or something), then switch that partition thing back to memory stick, then apply the official update file and it should work.

Sorry if that wasn't helpful, I don't actually know how to do any of these steps, but you can google each of them and you should be good.

You must use chronoswitch downgrader and FW 6.60. Yes it's not a real downgrade but you will install again a clean 6.60 OFW.

you poor thing, you're stuck on custom firmware. :P jk.
grab the 6.60 updater from the link provided above.
copy it to your memory stick at:
ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP

download this app (don't know if outside link rule applies here or not):
http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=41227

copy it to:
ms0:/PSP/GAME/Downgrader/EBOOT.PBP

start Chronoswitch Downgrader.
Press X until updater starts.
Continue update as usual with an official update.
I hope that helps.
