Just buy one if you collect every console(s) like me and I bought a WiiU at launch and look how that ended up. It is what is and the same will apply to the Switch depending on how well it does or not.

The piece alone is going to drive people away, here in the UK as a gamer you'll have to spend £400 on a console, game and decent controller, this is unacceptable considering you can get a ps4 and a few games for the same price.
Nintendo shot themselves in the foot and this price point will kill them.

What they should of done is contended with the already 2 year old consoles on the market. I would of bought this regardless if 3rd part developers could port their games to the console with no loss of quality being a fan boy and all. But releasing a weaker console and a stupid price point with no prospect of 3rd party support is a deal breaker for me

I get that the gimmicks with the wii served them well but that was a lucky break and they can't keep on relying on it, my faith in Nintendo has diminished greatly. Oh how the might have fallen

why isn't Mario or splatoon a launch title? Where is smash?? Where are all the wiiU ports?

U can't afford to enter this generation two steps behind and drip feed first party games anymore, not when the competition is readying their strongest line up of games yet. I don't Nintendo themselves understands the position they are in at all, I really don't.

I mean why xenoblade 2 on TBD??? it should be a launch title or at least confirmed for this year with a release date. Why are we unsure if SMT or Octopus traveller is exclusive? argghh what the f*** man. You can resell the entire wiiU library and add them to 2017 games because not many people played thoses and it looks great on paper but you only decide to do MK8 and it's not even at launch? why do you do this to us?

Not sure why I should feel obligated to pay an additional $250+ to be able to play another Mario game. I don't care about the tablet gimmick of the system, and the hardware isn't promising anything new. I feel like their just holding Mario ransom behind a $250+ paywall. That's not to say I wont ever get one, but I'm not happy, nor excited about spending $250+ for a slightly shinier Mario game.

look, i know the switch has a lot of downsides for the price, but do people really have to beat people up for wanting to buy it? this is one of the most negative reveals i've ever seen.

paid online doesn't bother me because i never play online multiplayer games anyway. expensive joycons doesn't bother me because this console is for my use only--i've got the wii u still hooked up for the family. 3-6 hours of battery life doesn't bother me because that's what i get out of my 3ds. minimal launch titles doesn't bother me because zelda is all this stressed college student needs to keep him busy.

i'm not buying it to throw money blindly at nintendo, i'm buying it because i want to play xenoblade 2 and fire emblem warriors and super mario odyssey and pikmin 4 and a new animal crossing and all those other games that won't come out on any other platform except the switch. nintendo has a firm grasp on the power of exclusives

i think that might've been my first internet rant? cool

I will buy this, that's for sure.
At release day? Not so sure about that.
I love the idea of HD haptic feedback and the experiences it may bring.
I love motion controls, I loved then back on the Wii, I'm very glad they are bringing that back. I suppose I should put that on a list of things I love that people normally hate.
I really like the portability.
I'm totally Ok with paid online.
I don't like the price of the console, games and accessories, quite overpriced.
I don't like the reduced line up.

Mario kart 8 deluxe and a complete edition of smash shoplifting be launch titles. But I see no Smash in sight.

Considering it's a new console. Expect a new iteration of smash.

For those complaining about prices of games, check out how much SNES games were during their time on shelves:

http://earthboundcentral.com/wp-con...istributing-Ultimate-1996-Video-Catalogue.jpg

Look at bloody Killer Instinct at $87. More expensive than any of the titles for the Switch. Go from 1996 dollars to 2016 dollars and it actually costs $134.

For those complaining about the price of the console, I present this:

http://i.imgur.com/5iab465.jpg

199.99 for an N64. Not bad, but again, inflation from 1996 to 2016 gives us $307. For just the console and one controller, no rumble pack, no controller pak, just the console and one controller.

I don't believe I remember any console release where people didn't complain about the price.

No one cares what games used to cost or what they would cost adjusted for todays prices.

The switch & it's games are too expensive for the market it's competing in today.

Switch £280. PS4 1TB=£220

Switch games £49.99-£59.99. Average ps4 game, £39.99, unless you shop at GAME, in which case it's your first born child for a game.

I mean it looks cool and shit, and has some awesome-looking first party titles, and promises good third-party support (we'll see about that), but why did nintendo shoot themselves in the leg with storage and paying for online pay. 32 gigabytes is nothing. i have 4 times that in my phone. and 71,5 times that in my pc. YES, it does have microsd, but god, the speed on those are horrible. i mean i have a 5400rpm drive with an avg of around 120mb/s r/w and loading certain games is bad enough on that

To fairly compare the value with your phone or PC, I think you need to comapre how much each costs and how different they really are, both physically and in-use. Apples to oranges.

I think the multiplatform games will be crippled on the Switch (ie. smaller graphical content + worse sound) than any of the common Blu-Ray-based releases we see on other home consoles due to smaller cartridges being cheaper to manufacture & online games needing to fit in limited storage space too. That's just one of the many compromises the Switch concept requires, in my opinion. Sony gave us incredibly more expensive hardware with the Vita (compared to the 3DS at the time) but still had to make their money back with the memory cards. That was definitely a big part of their Vita downfall. At least here it's a far cheaper storage format. Nintendo know 'cheap' very well (sometimes too well...).

I don't anticipate seeing MicroSD read speeds as being a bottleneck with the Switch. I think they are plenty fast. But we'll see. You can get MicroSD that read 80MB/s+ for peanuts these days. It will be interesting to see how the 40 MB/s+ models do too. I don't anticipate major problems but we'll see. I think the real bottlenecks are elsewhere.

Like it or hate it, the Switch will succeed in some way. As do all systems that come out. What sets Nintendo apart is that they are driven to do this at full speed.

They still have upcoming announcements; more surprises; more reliablity; more opportunities to become successful

I wonder if Nintendo of Europe is screwing over it's consumers yet again, because that's not what I'm seeing here.

Nintendo Switch - Arms & Mario Kart 8 Deluxe & Breath of the Wild - 59.99
PS4 - Watch Dogs 2 & Battlefield 1 & Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare & Final Fantasy XV - 79.96 (And these games have been out for a bit already) - I've checked the prices at Walmart, at The Source, at Best Buy and at EB Games, they're roughly the same with a buffer of $7 or so

As for the console, I actually had to go with the PS4 500 GB because I couldn't find a 1 TB without it being a Pro, therefore you already have an advantage over me because the 500 GB should be even cheaper, right? The PS4 has been out for quite some time and had it's share of sudden price drops. So, over here, the 500 GB model currently sits at $350. When it was released, it was $450. Again, one controller, no camera, no extra accessories or games, just the console and one controller. So the Switch is more expensive at launch and will also see equal price drops, especially with the raving feedback. The PS4 had the same thing. Comparing the two console prices is ridiculous because one has been around for some years and one hasn't even released yet.

I am still trying to figure out how the Wii U succeeded. I don't think it was record profits for Nintendo. (Or any profits for that matter)

I wonder if Nintendo of Europe is screwing over it's consumers yet again, because that's not what I'm seeing here.

At least for the UK, Nintendo are just doing a conversion of the US price + 20% (vat). In the case of the console itself (£280) our pre-tax price is actually cheaper than then NA pre-tax price.

The conversion from $ to £ is actually resonable, the price is just wrong for the UK market. Nintendo should have used "regional" prices based on the market it will be selling in & competing in, rather than just a conversion. Setting regional prices rather than just a direct conversion is something companies are quite fond of when it goes their way (more money for them).

Comparing the two console prices is ridiculous because one has been around for some years and one hasn't even released yet.

It's not if they are competing in the same market.

If the switch was a new gen (hardware wise) and was a step ahead of the other consoles then fine, but it's not. Graphically it won't surpass the ps4/xbone and it costs more.

Ok, so those are older consoles, fine, but at the end of the day

£220= PS4. Massive back catalogue, huge 3rd party support.

£280= Switch. New console, small catalogue, questionable 3rd party support.

No one is going to look at that and say yeah, but it's newer, fantastic deal. Like it or not, Nintendo are competing in the same market place as the ps4/xbone, charging what they are while claming "it's new" isn't going to convince anyone it's better buy, unless you're a Nintendo fan and well, we saw how just keeping the small loyal Nintendo fanbase worked out for them with the WiiU.

Succeeded by inspiring more justice to create a fantastic system called the Switch - a system that we have yet to uncover the future. A system that may outsell the 3DS. A system with the best portability. A system that will impact how other gaming companies create their franchises.
