Yes thats the up to date guide.
The homebrew launcher is launched in the browser (or with ds vc). Sounds like your launching loaddine directly from browser even though it isn't really recommeded

Umm....maybe. I open my browswer and go to loadiine/ovh.index (and a few other things, it's bookmarked) -- and am taken to a page where I can choose from a dropdown menu what I want to do, but I have it auto-selected to launch loadiine to play games from my SD Card.

Is this the same homebrew launch?

why is it not recommended? we all have the loadiine.ovh DNS, I suppose.

You should just choose homebrew launcher 1.4 and it should load. (Not sure as I only use haxchi)

loadiine.ovh is fine but using it to boot directly into loadiine isn't useful. Also loadiine.ovh doesn't host the DNSes it only shows if they are up or not.

I believe I have this option from the splash screen that loads when I launch my browswer and go to loadiine etc etc etc
Is haxchi a better/safer method to play games from SD & USB? Rather, I know my current method can play from SD and works perfect, but IDK if it can play USB.

Correct, booting directly to loadiine is of no use in this instance. I will have to uncheck the autoboot (or whatever it is) checkbox and remember the options and what they do.

Haxchi is an offline hack that uses a ds vc. This is useful if you don't have internet or the dnses go offline or something. It can boot cfw by holding "B" booting the title so you can install no legit games and dlc.

You cannot play games off usb using Loadiine. Haxchi is just a different way to gain access. Right now you're using the browser. Haxchi is a "channel" on your Wii U system menu that takes you straight to HBL.

Best thing about haxchi is you can use CBHC to coldboot your Wii U directly to a sigpatched sysNAND so you just turn on the Wii U and click the game that you have installed (to system memory or USB) and you're done!

Also with a CFW like sigpatched sysNAND you can install "unauthorized" channels to the system menu like the official HBL channel

Is haxchi safe or chance of bricking Wii U? What is the CBHC, I do not understand that?

What is a CFW? I understand installing channels and installing "unauthorized" channels, just not sure what that terminology is.

DS VC being a Nintendo DS Virtual Console?

What is CFW?

EDIT -- Looking at the thread for haxchi, I don't believe I have a DS VC to use the exploit, so that may not be an option for me :(

what do you recommend to boot into homebrew launcher/loadiine? I do not want to modify any channel or something on the Wii U itself (although I have a DS game - "Dr. Kawachima").

Yes HaxChi is perfectly safe. Just follow the instructions. In order to use it though you must go online and purchase one of the DS games that work with it. I think I got the Kirby for like 6 bucks. Worth it!

Custom FirmWare. CBHC will use your HaxChi install (once it's installed and running) to autoboot whatever you want or just have it boot to a custom Firmware that is patched so you can install unsigned content to the system menu. No need for redNAND or mocha CFW.

So I am going to load haxchi now via homebrew launcher and it then asks me to install it over my DS game?

do I have to disconnect my USB HDD for that?
Yes you will install it over the ds game.

Yes you need to move the ds vc to syste memory (if it isn't in system memory) and unplug all usb devices in the console.
