Hi. I´m currently doing the Plailect guide on 11.2 for my cousin. He has the stock 2 GB SD card (very small, I know). When I got to the ctrtransfer section I was asked to do a backup, which I think is vital. The thing preventing me from doing this is that his SD card will be left with less than 100 mb space. Is the ctrtransfer going to take up any space or will I be able to copy the backup to my computer before anything that takes up space is needed? Thanks in advance.

The only thing you need space for is the nand backup and the ctrtransfer image - everything else is a trivial size. I think what you could do if you're concerned is make the NANDmin.bin separately, then copy it to the PC and erase it from the sd before beginning the ctrtransfer.

It is indeed vital. If you want, check out my guide.

Oh, yeah that´s right... My cousin doesn´t use his 3DS anymore and said it´s okay if it bricks. He wouldn´t want to buy a new SD card before it has working CFW on it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I made it with 80mb free space, phew!

grats on made it.. if you comfortable with it go on.. as I am new, I choose the safe route.. haha
Thanks! Well, that´s what you should do! (Be careful.) I bricked a 3DS in the past and learned to be careful. Read through the whole guide before doing anything, read the steps multiple times as you progress, check that every file is in the right place before doing anything crucial and you´ll be fine mate.

do the backup manually, going to sysnand options > Backup > backup nand(minsize)
then eject sd using select, copy it to the pc, delete it from the sd, and copy the crt transfer image on the sd.

then go to sysnand> crt transfer > crt auto transfer>

skip the backup when it prompts you to do it, since you already done that.

once you get to 2.1 (remember to delete home data or remove the sd while booting)

install arm9loaderhax, and delete the crt trasnfer image, and place the backup back to the sd.

and then restore.

doing this you can do it in 1gb of free space without issue, its not recomended, but its the only way to do it in a sd so small.

Well I am currently on the part when I´m supposed to restore my NANDmin.bin backup. It´s 943 mb and I only have 826 mb left. This I guess, would mean that the SD card is to small? Restoring will add 943 mb of data to the SD card or nah?
