Hello everybody! :-) Very long since i was active on the "Nintendo scene". At least ten years and last time it was all about Gamecube and Gameboy. The only thing I have successfully done for about 5 yrs ago was hacking the Wii to be able to run homebrew games and apps. I love homebrew with all the possibilities this gives. Now I have kids relatively small and want to help them With NDS and NDS XL. Unfortunately they have upgraded firmware to 11.2.0-35E. I want to downgrade again, but dont know if it's possible to do this only with software and "hax". I have read about the hardmod who involves soldering of wires and the big possibility to mess up the NDS and even brick it permanently. Will be very thankful if anyone can explain the latest facts about downgrading the NDS. Give me a few threads or links dealing with this and even links with pictures of how i can "hardmod" our NDS units. Is the hardmod only a way to connect the NDS to the computer via the computers SD port and read out an "unique ID" from the NDS required to patch the NDS 9.2 firmware and write it back? Have been doing a little reading lately, but are pretty new to NDS hacking/ moding and would appreciate very much a little guide to the latest possibilities to bring the NDS firmware back to homebrew friendly state. Greetings from Norway.

Follow 3ds.guide/get-started. It will still have all the latest developments on it. Unless your console owns one of the four primary DSi games you will need a second, already hacked console or a hardmod.

Thank You for info! :-) I will read this guide and try to get started. I have a lot of soldering practice from my earlier work and also from chipping tons PSX 1 and 2 consoles back in "the good old days"... so doing a hardmod is not out of the question. Just want to do it right and find all the right tools to make the reading of NAND and patching afterwards. I remember how I bricked a few PSX consoles then I first started to mod. A little drop of solder on the wrong place was enough, not funny! Just have another question before I read the link you gave me:, how do you communicate with a PC after hardmod and after hooking up the NDS to the PC's SD card port? Is there a special software needed to do this or shall a special terminal protocol be used like communicating with a modem? On pictures I can see a blue screen on the NDS, but what initiates this blue screen or mode? Sorry if I ask silly questions, but like I said before. I'm quite new to this NDS stuff. :-P

hardmod tends to be expensive... requires great skill... and often sending a 3ds to someone... most people dont like taking that option
"great skill" You only need to know how to do basic soldering but I guess some people do not want to ruin their 3DS in case of a mistake.

yes. noone wants someone with basic skill to solder onto a device... they want professional level soldiering

so i have a 3ds on 11.2 with SOUNDHAX, when fasthax cameout, i just need to execute fasthax and downgrade with a dsi game?
it's already possible do downgrade on 11.2?
Yep but the dsiware must be either: The Legend Of Zelda Four Swords, Legends of Exidia, Field Runners or Guitar Rock Tour!
