As the title says: I know some people have said and in Pailect's guide that you won't be able to restore the target system's NNID if it started with one during the DG process. I received a bunch of mixed answers on the 3ds hacking Discord server and from a few friends. I don't need to dg any of my systems, but I have an irl friend with a o3ds xl and on 11.2 OFW. He said I can hack it, but he wants to keep his NNID.

Can anyone try to help me? Thx. :)

Have hacked fieldrunners on Old and New 3ds btw.

Target system's NNID remains on target system - all you have to do is format the system after you are done downgrading and log in to its old NNID.

Source system's NNID is moved to the target system. To get it back to the source, you'd need to either do another system transfer in the opposite direction (moving all NNIDs from the original target system to the original source system) or contact Nintendo.

Ahh okay. Thanks! I thought if u formatted after dging you wouldn't be able to log back in after initial setup since you start with a fresh NAND.

Nand backup, use tiny fornat, transfer, restore
Although you can't take a NAND backup of the target console (if you could there wouldn't be much point doing the system transfer).

The NNID is linked to the console on Nintendo's servers, doesn't matter how many times you format. If you system transfer however that will change which console owns the NNID.

Yeah I know. He only cares if he can log back in once everything is all done.

Ahhh target system i read it wrong

What are you talking about? Even if he wanted to restore the NNID of the source system, backing up NAND wouldn't restore it now would it? Literally everything says that the only way to get that NNID back is to call Nintendo once system transfer is complete on the target system to then unlink the NNID on that console so you can re-log on the source system.

If what you're saying could be done then you could use same NNID across multiple consoles after transferring with them.

Single system downgrading with dsiware injection should be coming really soon. Just need fasthax to release.

Who did? Literally he said "Nand backup, use tiny fornat, transfer, restore" . I don't see "transfer back". Maybe I'm not getting something here ..
Ok, maybe I projected that in there just because I was expecting it. But if you insert "transfer back" in between "transfer" and "restore" it works fine for the source console.

To avoid needing to transfer back a nnid for the purpose of dsi dg tiny format will format without unlinking the nnid. Once back on the home screen you can setup a nnid and access eshop for dsi / steelhax. Once transferred restore the nand with the nnid and you won't have any issues since you formatted with tiny format.

When you format with system settings it unlinks the nnid from the server

I've heard about fasthax, and that the arm9 and arm11 bootroms have been dumped, so I may not even need to downgrade if an implementation is released. Also my friend doesn't have any DSiWare games, so I wouldn't be able to do the injection for single system downgrading. Also I thought that the inject worked for only 11.0 and 11.1 since Nintendo patched that in 11.2

Yeah. I mean when either sighax or fasthax are released.
Yeah, I'm excited for those, then I'll probably start a side business buying N3DS consoles, get CFW on them, and sell them for $100 more than retail each.

Lol nice! xD I did watch the 33c3 talk, but I am still trying to grasp my hands around understanding what "signing your own firmwares" really means. Idk if it means downgrading or just only creating perfect signatures.
