Hi so I'm trying to get my friend onto homebrew via OOT3D. I've helped them get the correct save file onto his DS via powersaves. However when he boots into homebrew it says "The ropbin is ready" but it knocks him back into the home screen.

We've tried adding the otherapp.Bin and removed it. We tried removing ropbin and adding it again.

Now I'm at a complete loss.

What could we be doing g wrong?

The DS in question is N3DS with 11.2

All help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Edit: DS is US 11.2

Here is some stuff from Reddit, talking about todays smealum release:

"You need to re-run the oothax installer to have it install the hax with the new payload, in addition to replacing the boot.3dsx and the hans' folder

Is the oothax installer like a homebrew menu thing or where do I re-run it?

I'm getting a yellow screen with it when I go to run the oothax installer

That's because you need to run the installer from a 11.0 system or below, or using an exploit already updated with the 2.8 payload

How am I supposed to get the new payload then with oothax?

You'll need at least one of these:

  • An entrypoint already updated so you can bypass the PASLR and run the installer succesfully.

  • An entrypoint easily updatable(like menuhax or the hblauncher cia for example, or any primary entrypoint)

  • A homebrewed system on 11.0 or below
Also, I think you can also use powersaves, but I'm not sure if there is already a version with the new payloads

"Do you have ORAS? I was able to get 2.8 to work with this and then once in 2.8 I was able to run sploit_installer-oothax. The basehaxx installer has the advantage of being able to download a 2.8 otherapp and get in.

"

I see... But I've had a thought. Could it not be working because I don't have a payload on the root of the SD card?? I've got ropbin.bin

Yeah it's a good job I didn't suggest to do that then. I just can't understand why it won't load up.
Are you sure you chose the right payload file for N3DS 11.2.0-35E/U/J? Actually, you have to use the payload for 11.1.0-34E/U/J. Where did you get your payload file from?

I would forget powersaves this soon after a new release. You need to use your already hacked 3ds to install OOTHax with the latest otherapp payload.

Newest 3ds Starter kit on both systems. Use OOtHaxinstaller on hacked 3ds and Otherapp.bin on both 3ds sd card

This is the one we are using: N3DS_U_26624_usa_9221

I am not sure if that's the right or wrong one tbh

And it came from ywllow8 powersaves pack thing

I've encountered more crashes using the oothax installer method than I have with the Powersaves method. It's not reliable imo.

What region is the system? That maybe your issue, you're using a US payload instead of the EU payload. The payload you want is for a European N3DS 11.1/11.2 is called N3DS_E_25600_9221.bin

Only thing is I'm doing it remotely because my friend lives in the US xD I guess if I can't find a solution I'll send him my freakyformes cos I've got CFW now.

What region is the system? That maybe your issue, you're using a US payload instead of the EU payload. First, there is no payload that goes to 26624 in the yellows8 download. Those only go to 11.1. I don't know where you got your payload from. The payload you want is for a European N3DS 11.1/11.2 is called N3DS_E_25600_9221.bin

Oh what's the US equivalent of that then??? Because I'm doing it remotely to a US friend!! That actually makes sense now as to why it's not working..

Well you never mentioned that it was for a US system so I assumed you were trying to install it for your EU system. That would've been useful information to know when describing your situation in the first post. I was looking in the EU folder and there were no 26624 payloads. Anyways, the US equivalent is N3DS_U_26624_usa_9221.bin, which you had right. Try reinstalling the payload with Powersaves. Or try loading the payload with the oothax installer with your CFW device.

Oh yeah sorry. Stupid mistake to not put the obvious in the first place! XD

Ok I'll try it again tomorrow then :)
