Hacking Mario Kart 7 edit save?

Hello community,
i want to edit my Mario Kart 7 save, and it always gives me that my save is corrupted, so it creates a new one. I have the save file direct on my sd card, since I play it with gateway in emunand. It seems I am to dump to do easy things like this. Someone know why and how to edit such save files correctly?

I'd give this a try if you haven't already. I don't think it's 100% safe though. I got a slightly sketchy save after using it once (changed my mii to a player mii). Since you have Gateway, you could also try these Gateshark codes: http://www.fort42.com/gateshark/method=title&searcher=Mario+kart+7&sort=counts&region=ALL&p=1
There are unlock all and VR codes in there.
