I am currently on 11.2 with the files provide by plailects guide trying to downgrade to 10.4. This is my second attempt and the first time i tryed i was at 11.0, the 11.0 to 10.4 downgrade worked and when i did the 10.4 to 9.2 downgrad it acted like it had worked but it had softbricked my system. I used emergency mode to update and now I have swaped out the files to the ones for 11.2. Now when I attempt it it throws no errors but when I go into 3DSident it still says the nfirm is 2.51-0. I have tryed many times but is not working at all. Any idea whats wrong with it?

Issue resolved see here for awnser as to what happened and is current |

Sorry for abandoning this thread but, at first after being forced to update from 11.0 to 11.2 because of softbricking during the 10.4 to 9.2 downgrade I had accidentally used the wrong files for dgtool(still the 11.0 to 10.4 files). I have emergency mode updated to get the files(nfirm in nand) to refresh more a less and now have done the 10.4 downgrade with the correct files this time and now it has worked. The only issue I have right now is unrelated to my knowledge. Said issue is that consistently every time I try to use sysdowngrader to downgrade from 10.4 to 9.2 the system softbricks forcing me to emergency mode update. If you have any suggestions on what I should do it would be great. I have more a less quit and will soon take the advice of using tinyformat and trying the downgrade which should have a higher chance of working once I can borrow/ setup as an entry point a friends copy of pkmn alpha sapphire that I must restore save for and return afterwords. Then restoring a nand backup I will have made before doing said tinyformat. If you have any suggestions as to what I can do instead of this it would be much appreciated, I would advise throwing these words of advice into this forum instead as this is were I have stated this question already.

keep trying to do the NFIRM downgrade.
I've noted that people have gotten past this issue by dumping the NFIRM files again, but I can't make any promises. Sometimes it just randomly decides to work.

Hehe yeah, so just keep retrying, and starting fresh sometimes will help as well (erasing the boot.nds and dgTool folder and replacing them with newly downloaded ones)

It took me 8 tries before it finally worked. Just keep trying is all I can say...

Edit: I must be tired, the NFIRM isn't the right version. Derp. Well if you do get it to the right version, then you can look below. I'm sorry.

I'd say keep trying, but if you want to pull a risk that will almost guarantee you wont softbrick again, here's my suggestion:
Complete the NFIRM Downgrade, and backup a NAND.bin (rather than just the f0f1, this may take a while)
Go into Homebrew and use TinyFormat to format your console. I've been told this will keep your DSIware intact, but don't count on it.
Downgrade to 9.2.0
Hopefully boot into 9.2.0.

If this method fails, then you run the risk of not being able to downgrade again, but so far everyone (that I know of) who's downgraded after formatting has gotten past the soft brick. But if you have the determination, keep on going without formatting.

Also, if you do boot into 9.2.0 and ctrtransfer to 2.1- you can recover your NAND.bin from dgtool rather than do the transfer back to 9.2.0, and you won't even have to do the restore tickets step. This can get you access to the saves you'd lose access to after formatting.

Though to be fair you aren't actually doing the same thing over and over again unless you are using a computer to precisely time everything. When it comes to hacks (especially TOCTTOUs like those used for <= 10.7 downgrades), often times a few milliseconds difference in button presses or loading the hack can make all the difference.

I found that I had trouble installing the NFIRM when there were more files than the FIRM_110NEW/FIRM_104NEW files (Btw, ensure that your files are the correct files for your 3DS type, if you have a N3DS, they should be the filenames I just mentioned, for the other systems, you should use the O3DS files. If you are installing the wrong files, I found that your NFIRM version won't change, and it won't tell you that you're using the wrong files.

So make sure that you ONLY have the NFIRM files for your device there, if you've dumped the NAND or NFIRM from your console, move them out of the folder and try again, in addition, you should ensure that you're using the correct versions. If you have FIRM110_NEW.bin in your dgTool folder but you're on 11.2, this would be a reason why you can't downgrade your NFIRM.
