Get the payloads from here. Make sure that it corresponds to the haxxed save and that it's ropbin, not otherapp and drop it in the root of your SD Card.
Use the 10.4 payload since that's what your 3DS actually is atm.

If he doesn't have the payload in his root, he won't be able to launch Homebrew period.
For oothax, he only needs the boot.3dsx. I've used oothax a multitude of times. I know how this works. This is not the same as other entrypoints where you need a payload at the root of the SD card, like steelhax. You're telling him false information.

You sure? I've used OoT3dhax as my primary doing the DSiWare Downgrading process and I have been required to have the payload on the root of every "target" 3DS so far. I'll do some test on my OFW 3DS right now since I'm so darn curious now.

I'm 100% positive. I've never had a payload on the root of my SD card when using oothax. 100% positive.

Hmmm... I dunno how I should feel lol. Not saying your wrong, I might've had bad boot luck, but literally kept getting stuck on colored screen without a payload.
Payload on root, success rate was better.

No payload (0/3)
With payload (2/3)

I did not have the ropbin in the root of my SD card. I just put the corresponding 10.4.0-29 one in there and im still trying it out now..

All I can tell you is, be sure that you've installed the right haxx save on your cartridge (N3DS_U_24578_usa_9221 - 10.4.0-29U) and that you have the most recent boot.3dsx from the link I gave to you earlier. Try your luck with the payload on root also. Can't really diagnose your problem ):

man still nothing. not even the white letters again. I just dont get it. I should be at 10.4.0-29 and I have it all corresponding to that. Should I have a certain boot file in my root or something as well?

should i put the payload somewhere else besides the root?

I think you've had bad boot luck. It works for me without the payload on the SD card root. :/

Payloads should always be in the root (only the HBL cia has a different directory for it's own payloads)
I'm not really sure what's up if you do have everything required for it to boot up into the HBL and it just won't.
I'm having successful boot rates so... yea.

Here's the weird thing. I've had great success launching the payload when I installed it through Powersaves. When I installed the save through the oothax installer, I've had varying success.

I've actually noticed that as well. The tests I did earlier was using another CFW 3DS of mine to install it through HBL (because I'm too lazy to get the raw save images and backup, rename, restore, blah blah) but if I use Powersaves I literally have "100% success". Not sure what makes the two installations different, but I guess that's just how it is.

Im able to use a powersaves in a couple of days. I think im gonna give up on this method though. I have no idea what the issue is. When I downgraded was it at 10.4.0-29 or 10.4.0-00 ?

I may just try Smash hax tomorrow and see if I have better luck with that. I felt like I was so close yet im so far away :(

If you continue to use oothax, you don't need to use the 10.4.0 payload. I used the 11.1 payload and it worked. Just remember that smashhax requires Linux.

But I am unsure if I am actually on 11.2.0-35 or on 10.4.0-29 I wish there was a better way to do this. Im about to be gone for work all day but when I try it im gonna throw in the 11.1 ropbin and see if it works.

Go into system settings. Look at your 3DS version. Install the OoTHax payload that is THAT version. Should be NEW 9.2 or whatever version you are on. Install it to the cart. Do NOT have a payload on your root, it WILL mess it up. I did this last night. Once the game starts, let your magic meter fill up and then HOLD A UNTIL THE BOTTOM SCREEN IS GRAY, then MASH A AFTER. This works almost 100 percent for me.

EDIT: Make sure you wipe OoT before installing each payload. Hold A+B+X+Y right as you launch the game

wow I really appreciate this. I just got home and I am definitely going to try this out now. Well I am unsure what my system FW is but it does say 11.2.0-35 so I should do that one or continue using the 11.1.0-33 or should I go with the 10.4.0-29. Also thanks for telling me about the magic meter stuff I almost always never let it fill lol. I never held down A either. I will try with the three payloads I guess and update yall on what happens.! Here we go! I am also gonna take the payload file out of my root!

I just press A once immediately without letting the magic meter fill up, and that works for me every time. Your mileage may vary, I suppose.

idk what the error could be for me at all. so do i need the ropbin at all or not? Im literally on the last step of the system transfer guide and I already feel like giving up and selling this thing. I am using THREE save slots with one being at 10.4.0-29 the second being at 11.1.0-34 and the third being at 11.0.0-33 (since thats what it was at stock) I have tried this over and over and still no luck. I am also holding down Right and the buttons after I launch the game too. Im losing my head here guys :(

I don't understand how I had those white letters going on at one point. Never again have I seen them.
