I really wish more gaming companies these days would allow people to demo a game before purchasing and since it is an online game it cannot be pirated either. Another thing I should probably mention is I rarely if ever play shooters. I've enjoyed games like Left 4 dead and I figured the experience would translate the same here but aside from watching some YouTube videos how else could I have known for sure.

I'm gonna head back to Best Buy and return this. Good thing there was no cellophane wrapping.

P.S.S. It would of also helped if this were available on Steam. That 2 hour window to get a refund would of helped here.

This is why I just go to GameStop and get used games as their used game policy is pretty good.

Okay...

Sorry, but I don't quite get the reason behind this thread. You mention you could just watch some youtube-video's (I bet there are dozens if not hundreds of hours of playtime on that game), but you didn't. You could have checked reviews (plural...a single source is never an objective measurement), but you didn't. You don't even truly say that the game is bad, as you "rarely if ever" play shooters. And you're not even screwed either, as you both got it on sale and can return it to the store. Yes...steam would be more convenient, but companies are free to choose to what platform they're bringing their games.

As for the demo's: extra credits did an excellent video on why they don't work. And they don't even mention something I saw in UT2004: two years after date, there was still a hefty number of people just playing the demo version. This version came with all the weapons and items, but just one map per game mode (admittedly: arguably the best ones). Result: there was quite a hefty group who never bothered to purchase anything and just kept playing the same map over and over.

I never said I didn't watch youtube videos, but that's not a good reason to go on to decide if something is worth it. Have you never been mislead on a YouTube video and thought their experience would be like yours?

And you literally defended their choice to not bring the game on to steam for no reason. I don't normally mind having to go to a different storefront for my game purchases but they simply don't have the same customer policy and as a result I took a gamble and lost.

The only thing I do agree with you on is the demo. However they could severely limit it to just 2-3 characters total from each category. (One balanced, one tank, one support) and made only one map available. There was simply no safe way of seeing if the game was for me but I guess I deserved to be screwed for buying something on hype right?

Erm...

Sorry. I thought that was an obvious conclusion. The phrase " aside from watching some YouTube videos how else could I have known for sure?" implies that if you had watched youtube-videos, you would have known in advance (and hence not bought the game). I must've misread, so again: my apologies on this.

As for your question: no, I haven't been mislead by youtube-video's before. But that's probably because I only check them after I already read through reviews from people with likeminded opinions as me.

And you literally defended their choice to not bring the game on to steam for no reason.
What? :wtf: Dude...I don't even like the fact that some large gaming companies use their own stores rather than going to steam. I was just stating that they have the right to do whatever they choose. You can't state things more neutral than that.

I understand you were being neutral. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

With the youtube videos coupled by the fact the game has has glowing reviews and millions of people playing leads me to believe I'd have fun too but having no demo and no way of refunding really doesn't help.

Anyways thank you for your input. Hope I can put all this past me today.
