by whats the biggest, i mean whats the biggest size past 32gb that you have everything working on.
some people partitioned an sd card to get more space, but has it ever failed beyond a certain point of space filled?

I have an 128GB SD card, class 10, and it works great but I can't record with the 3DS camera because it says the write speed is too low. Not that I really care about that. Compared to my old 32GB class 10 the speeds feel the same anyway.

Can you please post a screenshot of that message? I never had that problem before in mine :o

The problem with card bigger than 32gb is that they slow down the DS quite a bit (at least on my o3ds idk if that's different with n3ds) so people recommend card sizes like 64GB because in most cases you wont need more space than that. If dont mind 15 seconds to load an extended memory game or 20 to coldboot it then go 128 (256 might be overkill due to the 300 title limit)

I used 16GB then 32 then 64 then 128, switching to the higher version each time I would hit the limit :P
So yeah, right now I'm on a 128GBwith more than 64GB used (including an emuNAND) without any problem. It just takes a lot more time to boot but whatever, as long as it doesn't fail like menuhax would, I don't mind waiting.

Have a friend who's 3ds is working perfectly fine with a 128GB sd card that I did for him.

Using 64GB myself and no issues.

What's the biggest size you guys would recommend for use with freeshop? I was thinking around 64 gb but would 32 gb do the trick?

Depends. If you hate all games except VVVVVV, a 2GB would be enough :P
But if you love all MH games, all Pokémon games, Smash and Xenoblade, you need a bit more...

Well umm i dunno, i only ever used 32GB since nintendo website only says they work. Besides i don't think nintendo actually intended for anyone to stock 300 or more games on to the system with just downloads since there is a actual limit, they probably felt 32GB is enough for just eshop only games, and that people would buy carts for the others, why else would they still make carts or maybe even have such limitation.

It would be cool if somehow you could partition a Bigger size cart like 64Gb each into two 32GB and then swap between them so you could still maybe have the safety of 32GB storage system is compatible with but also not be restricted to 300 home menu installs.

What's the point of that? Are 64 gb sd cards converted to fat32 unstable?
