So, my roommate saw my hacked 2ds and wants me to hack her 3ds when I have time. I noticed that on the current plailect guide it says "A new update will be coming soon that allows for DSiWare NFIRM Downgrading without a second 3DS or hardmod for versions under 11.2.0."

Has this been confirmed/given a timeline, or is there somebody on twitter or something I can follow to keep up to date?
Confirmed.
Sometime soon after Dec 27.

Last year: Hacking conference around Dec 27, where they talked about vulnerabilities. Main person i remember from said conference was Smea.
Pratically gave enough info for people make steps to downgrade to 9.2 (which allowed cfw).
Jan 3rd: Downgrade process was out for testing, allowing people to downgrade to 9.2, then set up emunand and cfw. Step by step guide came out a few days latter (i set up my N3DS, thus I know)

A9LH was out around Feb, but the most important thing was downgrading when most people were above 9.2

Same Hacking conference should be around Dec 27 this year. Use above timeline to estimate when process was ready.

They hint at what they'll release beforehand, but not details (so Nintedo doesn't patch)

What's the difference between CFW, Gateway, and Sky3DS other than price?

I understand there is no way to get CFW on 11.0.0 without hardmod or a second hacked 3DS.
But is it possible to play 3DS backups with either Gateway or Sky3DS on 11.0.0?

TinyFormat formats the console without contacting the Nintendo servers. So according to Nintendo servers the NNID is still linked with the console. It will probably ask you to sign in when you go on the eShop to buy the game and also before the system transfer. So gain nothing except clearing your data.

RxTools is outdated. I can't understand your question but 99/100 the answer is to follow https://plailect.github.io/Guide/get-started

Did you copy every file as instructed? Do you have payload_stage1.bin? I think in your a9lh folder.

I did as it instructed and i have a folder in there called payload_stage1 but i do not have a file bin called that

Hello Guys, i've bought a 3DS half a year ago and i was able to downgrade it and install ReiNand.I haven't played the 3DS in months and am pretty much a noob in setting up stuff.

I've noticed that reinand is inactive nowadays. Im on 10.7.0-32E (REI) right now. Which CFW would be the best to switch to. and more importantly...how do i switch them?

It would be great to get some help :) Thanks in advance

If you want to to have the best, follow https://plailect.github.io/Guide/get-started
Otherwise you can just replace the ReiNAND files with Luma ones and edit your boot.cfg if using.

You forgot to follow this step:
Copy the contents of the arm9loaderhax release zip to a9lh folder on your SD card

  • Sky3DS works on the latest version, BUT: you can only play games released on cartridge and you need to find a dump of them on the internet, and it is expensive, and it would cost less to get someone to do a hardmod for you to allow you to have CFW which lets you play eShop games, homebrew, VC injects, AND games released on cartridge
  • Gateway has the same firmware requirements as CFW but costs money. The only advantage is the slightly easier-to-use cheat system. Whether that is worth paying for is up to you (spoiler: it's not...)
  • CFW can be had for free on 10.7 or less. On 11.0+ as you have said you need a hardmod or second hacked 3DS But there may be a way soon for 11.0 and 11.1 to not need a second hacked console.

Don't use the Gateway fast boot installer. It's unreliable and has a good chance of bricking your console. Follow https://plailect.github.io/Guide/get-started. Put in 2.1 for your firmware and follow what it says.

But how does it work for N3DS that already have a cfw on it? do i have to wipe everything off my SD and then start the tut?
You do everything from sysNAND, so having a CFW doesn't affect anything. If you want to have your emuNAND stuff available, then also follow the optional section "Move emuNAND" near the end of the guide.

i know but it literally starts off with putting stuff on my SD card. and i already have tons of stuff on it. so should i delete the whole SD or just do it. i mean i've done stuff like browserhax etc already but i'll just repeat them.

And what what would be the other option of editing files and paste in the luma files?

If you have room on your computer, keep a backup of your SD, especially of the Nintendo 3DS folder that contains all your installed games and their saves. Having less files on your SD would make it easier to keep track of things (and helps make sure you're not using any outdated tools).

If you are using a boot manager, you would edit the path in boot.cfg, and you'd need to add the Luma files to your SD. I'm not up to date on what files but check out https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki/Installation-and-upgrade

Get rid of everything besides "arm9loaderhax.bin", "boot.3dsx", "Nintendo 3DS", "3ds", "files9" and your "luma" folder (which isn't in the picture but you SHOULD have one.)

Soz for maximum noobness but I don't know much about cfw.
In curruntly having my n3ds downgraded and I should have it back in 2 to 3 days(maybe before) I searched for a tutorial but instructions were unclear to me so here I go:

Once I have installed a9lh luma, how do I setup EmuNAND, is it safe to update it to latest version(and how to do it) and how to unlink it (idk what that means is it good?)

Sorry for my lack of knowledge but I would realy like to know(pls assume I'm a noob I don't know anything more complex then homebrew)

Also is luma the best cfw(I heard it is) or is there something else that is better

Also how do you setup ntr?? Is it a.cia or something else

You can delete everything. But make sure you don't lose the Nintendo 3DS folder.

You don't need emuNAND. Just follow https://plailect.github.io/Guide/get-started. You will be able to update your system to the latest version after finishing the guide. For NTR I am not sure. Find a thread on BootNTR and you should find your answer.

You don't need emunand when yiu have a9lh
Yes, yiu ca update. rather guide tell you too.

Ntr: need both cia install as boot and bin file in SD card for actual cfw (Ntr is technically a cfw)
