I played online about 4 days ago to trade with a friend and hadn't used my 3DS since. I just checked with Smash and Mario Kart and I am still able to go online for now.

NNIDs with only 3DS registered gets NNID ban, NNID with Wii U+3DS gets console banned, and 3DS without NNID gets console banned
i saw this in twitter is true?
I only posted that in this thread as a theory. Nobody has come forward saying they have a Wii U and their ban situation.

Link please ?
Saw it from a Spanish guy. But there's another report of a person with a legit game being banned on reddit:

I work at a popular Electronics Store and one of our associates accidentally broke street date on SUMO, over the weekend. This morning I just dealt with the person who picked it up saying that they have been banned from network services. I told them more than likely it would only be a 15 day ban. We had to apologize out the ass on this one.

My 3DS got banned, but my Miiverse account is still fine, as I just accessed it on my laptop. Seems like a console ban...My Wii U is at my place, so I can't check for another week, but from what I've heard, it should be fine...

Looks like Nintendo has also banned people who got a cartridge early and played online... Seen some reports on Twitter
This if it's true can be good to all, if my theory is correct these are just automatic bans.
So wait a couple of days and everything will be okay

I played sun .3dz and moon .cia while leaving wifi on, and am not banned. You should be fine if you didn't use any online feature.

I haven't used online since I downloaded Sun, on it or any other game, meaning I never turned on the wifi switch on my o3ds... but I did do the "festival plaza" tutorial in Sun... would that turn online on even if the switch was off? I don't remember if the light turned on or if the game even said "you're online" honestly, I wasn't paying attention and just wanted to get the tutorial done. Any chance I'd be banned??

You should be safe for now, the game is not able to turn on wifi by itself

Cool. I'm away from my Wii U at the moment but I'm hoping it's the same. To be honest I'm mostly concerned with any virtual console titles and the hopes that they transfer to the Switch. If I can't go online on my 3DS anymore, that's not a huge deal. I have a second (no NNID). I just hope my Wii U can play online.

You brave, brave soul. Let us have a moment of silence in respect to his potentially RIPed 3DS
Who said brick risk?
I'm not that stupid. I'm not deleting the file that will brick your 3ds if it isn't their.
I'm trying something safer.

This makes sense, people calling customer service and them being clueless, some cartridge owners who broke street release date getting banned? It has to be temporary.

So... If your 3DS got banned but your account still work on Wii U, it's a console ban, right?
I've read that it should be possible to unban the console by changing a file in NAND.
If you've installed A9LH, how can you unban your 3DS + use your normal NNID?
