Hey @WulfyStylez - Any update on the team SALT deployment? I see a bunch of threads on new functionality but honestly I'd have better luck knitting my own sweater than piecing all that stuff together. Hoping you guys are close to a release since everyone else is going in a different direction.

Same thing here bro.
The max I do is use the USB method.
What's wrong with the current iosuhax and haxchi? Those are pretty stable and user-friendly enough, I'm waiting for Salt's release too, but not because it might be better than WiiUBru's work, just because we will have more options to choose, I'm also waiting for hexFW, which is very promising too :)

The only things wrong with the current rednand that I know of are:
  • vWii doesn't work for some reason, from what I've heard
  • You need a 64GB SD card for a 32GB Wii U. Team SALT have a workaround for this, or at least are working on one.
Also, if you screw up haxchi coldboothax with system.xml by trying stuff randomly, you'll brick.

Otherwise I don't see any issues with it, except maybe that wupserver isn't hugely user-friendly.

* About the vWii's issue it will be fixed until we got sig patched sysnand natively (like a9lh on 3ds), that's one of rednand/emunand limitations. So I highly doubt that Salt will give a solution for this.
* Nope, you will need 64gb SD on 32gb consoles with Salt's solution too, they stated that before on this thread.

WulfyStylez is working on MLC shrinking though, allowing smaller SD cards.
Full disclosure: I'm still implementing MLC shrinking between doing other things, so at this exact moment it's 16GB for 8GB, and 64GB for 32GB. Those numbers will stay the same for users who don't wish to shrink their MLCs. After MLC shrinking is fully implemented (and it's getting there, debugging it is just really exhausting), all systems will be able to run off of just a 16GB card. MLC sizes smaller than 8GB actually seem possible, but I'm not sure yet if I want to support them since Nintendo themselves have likely never tested sizes that small.

Pretty sure you mess around with haxchi coldboothax with system.xml on Salts, You'll get the same outcome... So whats ya point? Im willing to bet that Salts have what we have here already with just a different label...

Also, coldboothax is still in wip, but haxchi is fully working with custom meta files.

Not going to lie, I haven't read anything here since Hykem was promising us a release back in January. Just have a simple question, is the Wii U hacked to the point that novice users can play games from USB drives like the original Wii? If so, can someone point me to a guide on how to do it?

@shinyquagsire23 Does that mean that the exploit will be private?

Also, github is not the only soluce to host source code, you might use your one server to be more unified.

For now,I encourage using smealum's things.

With wupserver we have access to mounting the sd along with the slccmpt, and we have the command cpdir which could be used to dump slccmpt directly to sd. Doesn't that mean we technically now have a way to back up and restore vWii from Wii U in case we brick it? I don't fully understand vWii yet so I may be wrong

Sounds like Crediar is up to something, possibly something like Uneek https://twitter.com/crediar/status/798824249850855427
Maybe?
