How are the permanent blotches of dirt calculated?

Or are these a myth and will go away? I tried the grass reset and waited until the next day, but all the dirt spots were back.

Hi! I'm having a little trouble with the editor's map but I'm not sure if it's just my computer. It seems like it's a little difficult to place or erase items on the map with the usual mouse click - often a click won't do it (not even a double click or x number of clicks works reliably, just luck of the draw), and if I try clicking and dragging the '-' empty space around the editor, it won't erase a clean path like it used to, but rather sort of jumps like the cursor is stuck or something. Sometimes clicking and dragging also does nothing. I've also noticed there's sometimes a bit of a lag when it comes to hovering over items on the map to identify them. Honestly I would not be at all surprised if this was a problem with my computer, but I just thought I'd mention it here in case anybody else has experienced something similar? Pockets, dressers, villagers' furniture etc. all work very smoothly, but the town and island maps are harder to physically manipulate with the mouse. I'm still making final adjustments before updating to Welcome Amiibo so I'm using the old garden.dat file.

Are you using Chrome? Try using Firefox, I've noticed it runs a lot better for me.

BUT i still have a bug : when I select an "welcome to amiibo" item and change for another one, that's the first one who is still select
No problem with the olds items :(
Can you help me ?
I don't understand.

does anyone know how to edit the encyclopedia?
because they will only register when you CATCH them.. help
The editor has a button to unlock full encyclopedia.

i want to make my character's name in japanese.
Go here:
http://memory.loc.gov/diglib/codetables/9.2.html
and copy and paste your desired characters into the editor.

It's still unknown (and it will probably remain this way forever).

Do you think you'll ever add a house exterior modifier? I used to use hex editing for that, but of course the offsets are different now.
but i'd like to be able to hex edit my players house exterior and i don't know the hex positions for the exterior!! thanks.
The new offsets are quite visible in the editor's source code:
PLAYERS: 0x80+0x20,
...
PLAYER_HOUSESIZE: 0x05d864,
PLAYER_HOUSESTYLE: 0x05d865,
PLAYER_HOUSEDOORSHAPE: 0x05d866,
PLAYER_HOUSEBRICK: 0x05d867,
PLAYER_HOUSEROOF: 0x05d868,
PLAYER_HOUSEDOOR: 0x05d869,
PLAYER_HOUSEFENCE: 0x05d86a,
PLAYER_HOUSEPAVEMENT: 0x05d86b,
PLAYER_HOUSEMAILBOX: 0x05d86c,
PLAYER_SIZE: 0xa480,

so, in order to edit house roof: PLAYERS+PLAYER_HOUSEROOF+player*PLAYER_SIZE

know acnlram.bin files can't be used anymore
acnlram.bin files can still be used.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

(noob, sorry)
No. You should be still able to hack AC:NL with the old one :-)
Just play on the non-hacked one, and hack with the homebrew capable one.

i can't use browserhax anymore so i can't make a backup or use the editor: http://gbatemp.net/threads/unable-to-use-browserhax-update-required-for-internet-browser.448594/
Hoping you are on 10.7 or lower, this is the fix:
As of March 24, 2016, the browser-version-check requires that the installed Old3DS/New3DS browser be on >=10.7.0-32. This does not apply for New3DS v10.2. To bypass this requirement on Old3DS/New3DS(this bypass is only usable prior to 10.7.0-32 since it's fixed with 10.7.0-32), you can do the following(if you want to know how this works see here):
  1. Goto System Settings. Then change the datetime to January 1, 2000, 00:00.
  2. Use the browser 'Initialize savedata' option, before any page gets loaded triggering the browser-version message.
  3. Continue to use browserhax as normal.
  4. Note that you must not press the HOME button to return from the browser normally, otherwise you will have to reinitialize the savedata again. Once the datetime reaches January 2, you will have to repeat these steps if you want to continue using this bypass.
browserhax has been down for a few days anyway, here is a mirror: http://3ds.mordor.space/3dsbrowserhax.php

Concerning the Chrome's problems... when did you start to experience the problems? which version are you using?

This is the first time I've used the editor in a long time, since before the amiibo update. I can't remember well enough to tell you whether it was running weirdly in Chrome back then or not, I'm afraid. Currently using Chrome ver 54.0.2840.99 m according to the settings menu. Here are some gifs comparing the responsiveness, just for visual reference.

I just installed oot3ds hax on my old 3DS Xl and - for the first time - used the Homebrew method for hacking AC.
Is it normal that the garden.dat is a completely different town? I then used the garden_plus.dat and everything seemed fine but
when I tried importing it and started acnl, nothing had changed. What could have gone wrong?
Maybe it's the save manager? Do you guys have a link to which you use? My firmware is 11.2-something. Thanks!

*EDIT* When I tried to import the file, it just goes back to the Homebrew menu. Im very frustrated right now. And I also deleted every file in the savedata_backup folder on my SD card and dumped Acnl again. Then I edited my town (again) and replaced the garden_plus.dat file. But: Same problem! It just doesn't work :(
