I see some people talk about updating their a9lh.
I installed it quite a while back, but I don't seem to have any issues with my setup. I understand the "new a9lh" is able to boot without a SD card.
If I don't care about being able to boot without my SD card (I only live in Emunand so I need my SD card anyway), is there any reason to update to the newer version?

To some extent I'm of the belief "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

My O3DS now has A9LH and Luma, but my N3DSXL is still on 11.1

I read that "If you are on 11.0.0 or 11.1.0, do NOT update to 11.2.0. A new update will be coming soon that allows for DSiWare NFIRM Downgrading without a second 3DS or hardmod for versions under 11.2.0."

Anyone know how soon? I read through the process on https://plailect.github.io/Guide/dsiware-downgrade and it seems like a pain..especially the transferring part and having to wait a week still..

I just installed NTR CFW and when I start a game the screen flashes green and gets stuck at the booting screen. Can someone help me?

I'm helping someone but have come to an impass. Here's what has been conveyed to me:
-A9LH (should be latest from Aurora with CTRNAND boot support)
-Luma3DS with correct config (first two options enabled, no dev options enbaled)
-Updated sysNAND
-Can run payloads just fine, so A9LH confirmed working
-When installing content through FBI, they are getting errors. All sorts of errors. Errors that make me believe FBI is missing permissions.
-They removed FBI, re-injected. Still no go.
-Followed Plai's guide so he's good on keys and a proper setup.
-Had .dat files and menuhax files on SD card, removed them.
-They have successfully installed games and can play them. Not all games install.
-Error'd when attempting to install Big Red Menu through FBI->TitleDB, and others through TitleDB.

I'm going crazy here. Anyone want to see if I missed something?

Edit: 2DS, USA region.

Kinda silly question, but why homepass don't work on emunand?
I remember someone said that last year and i was confused why not.

I am currently trying to help a user on 4.2.0-9U sysnand that what using rxtools. The issue is, the system is the user's friend's device. Rxtools stopped functioning so they would like to switch to a9lh+luma.

I don't want to direct them incorrectly.

Would they be better off with

https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-updating-from-rxtools-to-luma3ds.427735/

or

Wiping the sdcard and then continuing to install a9lh+luma via the plailect guide?

I am not familiar with rxtools, so I want to be sure before I mislead them.

I thought you needed three options selected in luma?

  • “Autoboot SysNAND”
  • “Use SysNAND FIRM if booting with R (A9LH)”
  • “Show NAND or user string in System Settings”

If you want to switch him to A9LH and Luma3DS, then use Plailect's guide to do so. The thread you linked to will not achieve A9LH. So yes, direct them to Plailect's guide.

No sir. "Show NAND or user string in System Settings" is really in case you have an emuNAND and you are using that FIRM instead. It is not required.

TIL, thanks.

Have you tried checking the software data in data management. I saw a user the other day that had this issue with FBI. They had to "try to fix errors" via tile management. Like fbi was corrupt.

I did not. I shall have him look into that next. TY for the suggestion. He is currently testing his sd card for corruption. I had him re-inject FBI into H&S and re-install FBI after deleting it. The injected FBI still didn't install CIA's that need privs. For instance, BGRM.cia won't install.

Just to clarify, everything is up-to-date? A9lh, luma is 6.5/6.6, fbi is current? Firmware is 11.2?

Of course.

Ok. Yea, after they check to see if the sd is corrupt, check in data management to see if fbi says anything other than normal.

If that clears, I'd have them redownload FBI, and place it on the sdcard again. Just to be sure that it didn't miss a byte anywhere.

That included redownloading FBI from github.

OK, trying to help another user. They just finished the plailect guide. Now they have apps on their homescreen that are black boxes, and when they try to run them it says sd card has been removed.

Has anyone seen this before?

Were they anything prior or just new boxes? If they finished the guide, they copied luma to ctrnand, right? If they boot without the SD card inserted, do they still see the boxes?

The black boxes use to be games and such. I'm having them see if they can boot without an sd now.
