I coudn't get Street Fighter 3rd Strike to work, because when I selected the roms, Retroarch loaded back to the menu.

Try clicking on "Resume" after the menu is loaded again. I have the same "issue" with a few ROMs that the menu is loaded again instead of the game, but just clicking "Resume" loads the ROM all right!

GenplusX is working great now. Seems like Gambatte and NGP are still in a bad way though, I haven't tested too many others but Nestopia seemed to have trouble as well last I checked.

Link? The one on the app store doesn't work, where did you get this? I thought that one had a black screen no?

The app store will always lag behind a little bit because the builds on the buildbot get refreshed every 3 hours.

Which is understandable ^_^ What I'm trying to find out though is if there are differences in versions on the build bot vs the app store and whether or not the version numbers get updated since Genesis Plus is now working. Do we know anything about changes to Nestopia or Snes9x, and so on?

This is when something like Luma Updater would really come in handy for RetroArch.
Something like Retro Downloader or something, which gives you the option to either download the latest stable cores for your system or the nightlies, similar to what the Luma updaters do.

It would be nice for sure, but would require some heavy work :P

They are just nightly builds - it would be nice if the app store went with build date as opposed to a version number to give people a better idea of what's currently being hosted.

Its easy enough to just pull down the latest archive from the buildbot and overwrite all the current versions on your SD card rather than solely relying on the app store for the latest and greatest. If something new breaks, just revert to an older version for a particular core.

Has anyone tested Nestopia by chance though? I know what you mean, we can help with testing by trying out the newly built cores :D

Still, with the build bot, things are getting even better, slowly, but steadily, and that's what counts :P Glad Genesis works.

That sounds like a great idea in theory, but there are a couple of issues.

1) The buildbot auto-generates new builds every 3 hours regardless of whether or not anything has changed. There's no difference in commit number to check if a new revision actually exists, like the Luma updater does.

2) Sometimes the builds can just break entirely and remain broken for a good couple of days at least until the builds slowly recover to a stable state again. See the 3DS and Vita versions.

True, but Genesis seems to work in this build, so, IDK what was changed.

@pwsincd and @QuarkTheAwesome, maybe creating that and putting it on the app store could be a potential collaborative effort? :)

1) Not true, there is only new builds if there is a new commit on any of the cores or RA

That's why a Downloader for Retroarch's cores should have both Stable and Nightly downloads.
Stable will always get you either 1.3.6 (Latest stable) or the latest nightly, which usually get updated every day.
If you have a stable download you can always go back to that one.
In the case of RetroArch, the nightly build would be better if they are named after the date they were made instead of the commit ID.

Interesting. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure doesn't load on the cps3 core. I'll try the American version.

Bizarre... No version of JoJo works, nor third strike. Wish I could tell you why, but the most I can tell you is that the core refuses to load them. Just kicks me back to the rgui. I even deleted my old retroarch folder. And yes, these are known working dumps/roms on fightcade and mame.

that's your problem then, fba doesn't use mame roms for cps3.
why not test the rom on the desktop version of retroarch first? it is a lot less of a hassle, and you would know right away if it is compatible or not.

You need older FBA ROMs, not the latest ones.

It's an old FBA 2012 version, not the most recent one. The most recent FBA is slower, I'm not sure if it would still be fullspeed on WiiU.
