Hey guys! I'm planning to install A9LH on my N3DS Mario 3D Land edition, and I would like to be 100% sure before starting the install process and I'd like someone to answer to this two questions please:
1. Is it possible to make a backup of my current 10.7 NAND before the downgrade process and without hardmod?
2. Which is safer to use, PlaiSysUpdater o SysDowngrader?
Thanks in advance

1 : no
2 : I don't no sorry

the better (for me) it's use sysupdater on a 3ds recently use for the first time, or format your n3ds and go to homebrew launcher and downgrade with sysupdater

I did it for my n3ds

1) Nope, the system can't be backed up with any homebrew.
2) I just used sysupdater/downgrader on a o3DS/n3DS XL and it worked better than PlaiSysUpdater. It also now checks your updates as well, so that works well.

Make sure you charge your 3DS as you do the downgrade, and keep it on a level surface. If the power kicks out, you are screwed.

Well, thanks everyone for your answers, I've done A9LH on four 3DS's using Plailect's guide, three New 3DS and one Old 3DS, but in the 4th N3DS, I don't know why SysDowngrader failed, it made the hash checks successfully, but then, when the downgrade process started, as you now, first, it uninstall the system title and then install the CIA from the updates folder, but in the first CIA (I think it's mset) failed with a "File not found" error, it stuck, so First I pressed back trying to get HB launcher, got red screen and then black screen, nothing more, so I shut down the 3DS holding power button and now always I try to boot it up I get "An error has occurred..." Error, can't access recovery or touch calibration. That's why I'm kinda disappointed and scared of making a downgrade again without a NAND backup

You need backup entry points in case of partial downgrade. It is risky to do it with just a single 3ds
I use OoT as entry point, I have an Old 3DS to install the exploit on the cartridge, the thing is that I can't do anything, it starts and 1-2 seconds the error appears

Well, searching a lil bit, first, Fieldrunners was used as hardmod is used, right? you extracto your NAND, then you use AutoFirm to inject 10.6 NFIRM then restore the NAND, so, is it possible to install DSiWareHax on my 10.7 N3DS an extract the NAND using FwTool?

I use OOT3DHax to downgrade my 10.7 N3DS without problem. Maybe you install wrong payload version.

That's a bit off track. Rightnow you just need an exploit to run downgrade tool. No need to go that far.

Sorry, I was referring to the error that the bricked 3DS has, my OoT works fine, but still, I'm unsure of downgrading again without a NAND backup after what happened

Did you mean you're using OOT3DHax to make NAND backup on 10.7 3DS?
If yes, it's normal, since you need arm9 exploit to be able to run Decrpyt9, which only usable on 9.2 or lower except your 3DS is A9LH installed.

Sorry for not being specific again, but I was referring to that error, in short, something failed while downgrading to 9.2 in the first CIA, which is mset, and SysDowngrader said it couldn't find the file (but it was, it made a hash check before) so I couldn't even force a system update through L+R+A+Up, and it's hard bricked because of no NAND backup

The same happened to me with my friends 3ds. Something crucial was uninstalled and then it could not be reinstalled because an error popped up =/

The first NAND backup you create when following the guide is from 9.2. As others said there is no way to get a NAND dump from your OFW without hacks.

Also, like others said, use the guide and the tools it recommends. People are going to have mixed experiences with each considering the sheer amount of variables at play. I have always used Plaisysupdater and never had any problems but use what is recommended since they are, for a reason. Good luck.

After doing a bit of research, I will combine FwTool with DgTool in 11.0, so that I can get a NAND backup, then, instead of using AutoFirm, I'll use DgTool directly and well, if the downgrade fails again as failed on my other 3DS, this time I'll have a NAND backup to recover through hardmod.

Well if you consider to flash the Nand Backup via HardMod in case something goes wrong then of cause you can do a backup of your current state.. The key is the Hardmod..... That is what it's for dump your Nand and your good to go what ever happens...

Thanks! Yup, I'll do hardmod if something goes wrong, but meanwhile, I'll make the backup with Fieldrunners, then downgrade and if it fails, well, I'll do hardmod
