yes, the first byte is the game format.
it make sense the title installer refused to install a disc ticket.

I think Kohmei explained the second byte. just a flaw (or the way it works) in the RSA. The flaw is probably from the start nintendo using the same IV, and also the SAME title key for both disc and NUS games. Probably by design to prevent having different update files and DLC for each format.

just run nnupatcher from hbl it will temporarily allow this, just make sure to restart after update is done

yes, i've done so myself, it allows you to temporarily access eshop and take updates when you are using dns blocking

Pros: No need to run a kexploit, not rely on SD cards, use a larger and faster HDD, having the games on the Home screen, online-compatible, easy to update.
Cons: Only legit DLC, region lock.

That's as far as I can tell. Since I'm just converting my physical collection into digital copies, it's all pros for me.

That's a RSA flaw? changing only one byte for another single changed bytes.

You need to first dump one of your existing save to know your X value.
