so going by tjis http://wiiubrew.org/wiki/Hardware/OTP which keys wernt public?

For what I can compare with wiiubrew OTP page:

- WiiU SEEPROM Key
- Key to encrypt/decrypt SSL RSA key.
- Key to encrypt seeds for USB storage keys.
- Wii U XOR key.
- Many "unknown" bytes

I would like to know if it is possible, with those keys and without per-console keys, decrypt the USB content. Anyone able to answer this question ?

EDIT:
Just for information: "obscured" bytes in bank0 (all the bytes BEFORE "Security level flag" bytes) can be extracted using the OTP dumper that you can launch from HBC in vWii mode.

I think the guy who posted that dump was not perfectly aware of what he was "obscuring" because there are some shared data (for example DRH WLAN data and

No, USB content is per-console encrypted only.

Thank you for your fast reply.
Another question: if we are able to decrypt USB content (we are not at the moment, I know), modify it, and then re-encrypt it, will this trigger an anti-tampering function ? I mean is WiiU able to detect a change inside the usb content if we can decrypt->modifiy->re-encrypt it ? For what I read the security controls are during titles installation and titles boot... but does the wiiu check in some way an already installed content ? Wii was not able to do that.

Yes, Wii U checks titles on boot, not on install.
That means no installed homebrew launcher unless signature checks are patched (like on 3DS)

smea already released sig patches though I thought, so it's more waiting for a coldboot IOSU loader, so those patches are applied at boot-time, right?

I feel as though the question should be, just loading a patched IOSU kernel (or whatever it is, too early to read memory from brain) wouldn't help with installing titles, as they would be checked on the next actual hard boot and deleted, or some other error/brick?

Either way the IOSU kernel needs patched for installing full titles with fake signatures or unsigned I'd assume. There are some other tricks to pull off without coldboot though, like emunand that would let you install stuff to the emulated space instead of the console. Since a kernel IOSU exploit is only one piece that's needed for a Wii-like experience of just boot and select shit, I wouldn't count on it soon. That said, I don't know how far SALT or anyone else is with coldboot hacks or IOSU, I just know work is being done. Not really in the loop.

Either way though, I'd much rather use the internal storage honestly than the SD card or USB, or emunand altogether. Every Wii U game I have and play almost fits on a 16GB card, leaving plenty of space to fill with other junk since mine is 32GB. Meaning they will fit in the meager space the Wii U provides on the 32GB console.

Correct my statements though if I'm wrong, just trying to remember everything from a few months back early in the morning.

Thanks, I just did both TubeHax DNS and OpenDNS following by this tutorial:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-blocking-wiiu-update-domains-with-opendns.385996/
However there is 1 suggestion of installing OpenDNS Dynamic IP updater into 1 PC (Not a laptop that bring around) but I dont have one so is there any problem without having that software?

Yes there is, because without it the OpenDNS servers won't know what your IP is if it changes for some reason on your ISP's end. Your modem gets an IP from them via DHCP (not statically assigned), and if it were to change for some reason your OpenDNS settings will no longer work as they are still trying to operate on the old IP address.

If you have a sophisticated modem you could look at blocking the IP addresses directly from the modem, but I hear TubeHax DNS works well enough to block updates, maybe some other members can chime in on it's use. With TubeHax you may be okay without the OpenDNS piece, but I am not 100% certain.

But wait, a USB drive doesn't have to be plugged in at boot :O (just thinking out loud!)
I think he meant boot of app, not boot of console. :P

That's wrong, you would still have to run the exploit every time you boot up the console. :(

So, we would need a boot exploit if we want a 100% Wii like experience.

Then I'm not wrong, you're agreeing with me. Lol. I didn't say it's the only thing we need, I said it is only one piece of what's needed....

Omg how idiots I am, thank you for that. I havent using Sd card for 10 years now so I totally forgot about this. Since hacking wii u I used micro sd with adapter so I thought this is the physical lock to keep that micro sd. How stupid I am, even just tried to order actual Wii fit u disc from Amazon for my wife. You made my day thanks bro

not always, mine is yellow
True. Haha. All of mine are white though so I had to look again to see the switch wasnt even on it in the pic haha

@ZambieVu If you do run into a game that wont save though after doing this, try creating the folders yourself. I had to do it for exactly 1 game, I think it was TP. Was probably an SD issue though, not the Wii U.

I dont know how it works (Secrect Nintendo Agen update thing lol) but I dont think they are trying to update our console when we are playing but only when it's on standby mode isnt it? If yes then I am not worrying much bcoz I have the habit of unpluging Ac whenever turn off wii u.

Btw can anyone tell me how to turn off wii u in a normal way, not by forcing it to stop by Holding power button for 5 seconds. It's 2016 already common Nintendo
