Hello, I have never installed homebrew on my 3ds before but I've done a little research so I know some stuff. As far as I know without having homebrew installed before it is harder to do I know I can do it with smashhax but that seems a little inconvenient.

Anyways, my brothers new 3ds is on 11.0 while mine is on 11.1 if I install homebrew on his then update to 11.1 and get homebrew access with his is it possible to use the files from his new 3ds on my new 3ds so I can use homebrew even though it was never previously installed on mine? sorry if it seems like a confusing question but I read somewhere that it may be possible to do this so I wanted to know if it was possible.

No, that's not how it works. Homebrew must be independently installed on each console.

Also, if you can install Homebrew on your brothers 3DS (which means you have some sort of exploit) then why can't you just do it to yours? (unless you're using money-free methods ie: Browserhax which is dead on 11.1)

Can't do it on mine because I've updated to 11.1 already and I can only do it with money free methods though I read somewhere about using another systems files.
<-- from here though I dont understand it completely

Your brother's 3DS will not help you get homebrew on your 3DS.

You're having an issue with the entrypoint, which can't be solved by transferring files between 3DSes. 11.1 patched browserhax/menuhax, so you'll either need to wait for them to be updated or use another entrypoint.

Edit: Unless you mean using your brother's 3DS to set up another hax on a game. That is possible.

You can do it this way ig, but make sure your brothers 3DS already has a way to launch HB in order to install basehaxx (which I assume is what you're going to use)

It's not that confusing at all, to break it down:
1) Download HB Starter Kit
2) Get basehaxx installer
3) Install Basehaxx
4) Launch HB from base and that's it

Alright, you can set up browserhax on your brother's 3DS, which will allow you to enter the Homebrew Launcher. From there, you can use one of the available hax installers to install hax on a game as long as the game is exploitable. Check the link in my previous post for a list of the exploitable games.

No lol, you need a CFW (Custom Firmware) to do that and there are no available ways to get cfw on 11.1 w/o a hardmod or using dsiwarehax to downgrade to a CFW-able version.

Follow the steps here. That'll take you through the process of getting it set up.

is it possible to downgrade via homebrew then?
Nope. Essentially there are three levels of exploits. Userland, ARM11 and ARM9. Homebrew can gain up to ARM11 privileges, which would allow you to downgrade on older firmwares. In 11.0, Nintendo added a list to the firmware that holds the minimum version of each system title. When we try to downgrade through homebrew, the 3DS checks this list and detects the title is too low of a version so it won't install it.

interesting, I think I'll still install basehaxx either way, is there anything interesting I can do on 11.1?

Just use your brother's DS to install the 11.1 payload on a physical copy of OOT and use that to get homebrew on your DS. Either oothax or stickerstar are your best options for secondary exploits. In your case you need a physical cartridge since you can't install hax in a digital title with another DS. OOT is honestly your best bet, it's a $20 nintendo select game and freely available like everywhere......

Hey! so I have an update my brothers new 3ds is on firmware version 10.1.0-27U so I know there are easier options fir me to HB like browserhax then install menuhax from there. from then is it possible to downgrade to 9.2 so I can install luma and CIA files? I read somewhere about NASA working on 10.1 but thats probably for 9.2 updated to 10.1 right?

AFAIK browserhax works there. Can't hurt to try it! ;)
