Will Nintendo NX be a failure?

Do you think that the Nintendo NX will be a failure like the WiiU?

I know is to soon to speak about it, but Nintendo is recently making decisions that result on a self-harm and dislike for their consumers. (IE: Delayed games for WiiU; Ultra-secret NX development that goes against what they want to say; And well, WiiU itself).

So, in highlight of this little events, can we have an idea of how the future of the NX will be?

I think nintendo understand his own power. Its a company concern to make the better with low. They not can beat thosendcoreprocessors of sony keeping a low price but they have experience with family games. You make a little party with your friend gamers, then you use playstation for fighting and racing. But if is a little party with parents, your choice is nintendo for mario party and just dance. Fun granted. Nintwndo know it very well.
Being in a market with power racing they use this as advantage and inovative ways of play to surface between gamers choices. But is a chance game also. Many inovations just dont work the way they plan. Game cube was incredible grafics, but lack with mini disks format. WiiU has a interesting gamepad, but not pratic at all. NX brings the promisse to have a video game and portable but they forget the true mean of portable. A console you can carry in a pocket or a small bag. It can make the fall, and fall deep.

i think they are going to do it right this time. a console you can take with you sounds great and if executed properly will be kick ass.

i hope the handheld portion of some of the games has different stuff to do - like if you play zelda at home, on the "base system" (or whatever it will be called when its plugged into the TV), you can do the main game.

you take it off the base and venture out and its something very different from the core game - this will entice players to take the system on the go and not just play at home all the time.

if this happens, they will make not just billions, but gorillions on the deal.

I don't want it to be a failure. I think it has potential to succeed because Sony and Microsoft are effectively having soft relaunches of their systems at the same time. Making the timing of the NX less odd. Plus even though the PS4 Pro and Scorpio will be more powerful than their current models, Sony has at least confirmed that any game that is developed for the PS4 absolutely must be playable on the original PS4 and then will have extra options such as higher resolution for the Pro, supposedly this is a rule that will always be put in place, so unlike the New 3DS, no games can be exclusive to a Pro model. I imagine Microsoft would do the same with the Scorpio, but I've not seen any confirmation of this.

Anyways, as such, if the NX is effectively as strong as a standard PS4 or Xbone, and the porting process of games from those systems is as easy as has been rumored, then the NX could effectively live on as long the PS4 and Xbone and start receiving all those 3rd party titles the Wii U was not receiving. If that is the case, then the NX can have a fighting chance.

Having said that. Will it be a success or failure? I really can't say, but I have a feeling that regardless, when all is said and done, the NX will have the strongest library when compared to the PS4 and Xbone. Of course I think that's true when talking about exclusive titles with the Wii U compared to the PS4 and Xbone, by a longshot at that, but obviously, exclusive titles alone will not win you a generation as evident by the Wii U. Nintendo has to ensure that 3rd party support can happen.

Who knows, but I doubt it will flop as hard as the Wii U. It's already got Zelda, Mario and Pokemon lined up for it within the first 6 months, they're clearly putting a lot more resources into the console than they did with the Wii U so that people will want to buy it early on, which attracts more 3rd parties and they sell more games. If the console flops early on, it will forever be a flop.

That would mean they would have to put two games into one, or halfass parts of the game so that it doesn't get prohibitively expensive to make (and in turn prohibitively expensive for the customers)
I don't think that would work out very well, they would have to compromise somewhere to give you a unique experience both on the go and at home without the game costing twice as much to produce. I'd rather have the full experience everywhere than a halfassed experience anywhere.

I don't think it will fail. But with that I have to say that I have low expectations on sales. Nintendo isn't the cool ones, so sales will be low-ish compared to playboxone4, probably.

Easy: I don't want to guess. But... Yes, they will fail without third party support. On the other side, no, they will not fail if they have third party support.

That's simple. Again, without a third party support, Nintendo is doomed. End of story.

Not necessarily, by all measures, the 3DS flopped early on, but things ended up turning around significantly for the system. Of course the 3DS only ever had one real competitor with Sony, who was always struggling with the Vita, unless you feel that it has been competing with mobile as well, but I personally view mobile as a different more casual tier to portable gaming. So that could explain why the 3DS was able to be a failure at first but ended up the success that it is, you likely couldn't have a similar situation play out for a home console

It won't. Nintendo will fix the mistakes from the Wii U (which isn't THAT bad of a console in the first place.)

The concept is already wrong. A portable can have hdmi and wireless joysticks to be used as console, it's a win. But a console can't have a screen and buttons to be a portable because why? Because the size. Let's take the WiiU gamepad as a example. If you could download games into it, you will carry into your school bag to some places, but not all places or all time. It's a lose. My vita is always with me, I can play it anytime. Same was with my old psp and psp go. Because of the size, fits my pocket, fits my belt case. Cellphone in a slot, vita in second slot.
Is about it I'm talking, wrong concept and not will make consumer mind.

The only major flaw of the Wii U was that the specs weren't up to par for continued 3rd party support. Without that 3rd party support a system is going to commercially fail no matter how strong the 1st and 2nd party titles are. Which again, I think the Wii U by far has the best exclusive 1st and 2nd party titles compared to the PS4 and Xbone.
