After a long break of NTR i decided to take a look into it again. I still had BootNTR installed and the ntr.bin on my sd card so i was able to start it as usual. But now every game i launch while connected to the Debugger crashes (two times it just went to the blackscreen which tells me to turn off and one time it even froze while starting the game even before the 3ds animation started. Ive already tried to find out what program causes the crash so i tried to launch the game without the debugmenu and afterwards with the debugmenu activated and everything works. Ive tested the connection with the "sayhello" command and while im in the homemenu the top screen flashes green for a second so i assume it works. Ive then disconnected the client and launched the game as usual. But if i try to connect to my ds while the game is running it wont start a connection as long as the game is opend. Then i started to change the version of the ntr bin and the cia to the recent ones (the ntr debugger too). Now im using 3.4 Ntr with the ntr.bin of the starterkit in the latest release and im using the ntr debugger with gateshark support because the normal one refuses to even connect to my ds. And nothing has changed. I also got a bugreport once but ive looked into it and theres nothing than "server refused to connect" which i already knew. Im using the latest hourly luma payload on 11.0. on a o3ds. Is the 3.4 release not compitable with the o3ds or is this just the viewer feature?

Anyways, if you're on an o3ds, you can only use NTR with non-extended memory games. ( Games like Sm4sh, Monster Hunter use the extended memory, by unloading the homemenu. NTR needs the homemenu to work )
Also I'd suggest you use NTR 3.2 / 3.3, not 3.4 on an o3ds

I already know about those games but Pokemon (OR and Y) worked too before but now they wont. Ill try 3.2/3.3 out and report if something has changed

As it seems 3.2 doesnt support a firmware of 11.0... it starts with "unknown firm" then trys to open a path and displays hundreds of files like "addr: 00370000" and then stops with "current firmware not supported" and i cant find 3.3 anywhere.

Use Nanquitas NTR selector. It supports 11.0 nfirm and you can switch between versions of NTR without having to work on your sd card.
A link can be found here
Nice it works now (though i still dont know what the caused the crash in the first place). And it seems like you are the person who made the gatesharkclient so a big thankyou for that too and i would appreciate it if you continue it when it gets outdated :D

NTR is an old hunck of hacked together software that I'm 90% sure was copy and pasted from a mix of GW, yellows8's CFW, and other sources.

Have fun with your to-be deprecated hack.
Then suggest an alternative which is as good as NTR or even better. Otherwise it still works and when it doesnt there will be someone to get it working again. If it was that deprecated (nice word btw) then why would people still work on and with it and dont let it die like rxtools?

People DON'T work on it, the launcher was just hacked together to fix it, NTR itself is dead.

Why fix something that still works? I dont see how using NTR would affect your system in any way. I mean i dont have a security or stability issue because of all those updates from Nintendo and i can use this to modify my games. Im no dev so i dont need anything else then that it works as intended. Tbh i dont get why you have something against it.

It technically doesn't. You need to hack around to get it to work.

But it DOESN'T work. If you need to cheat a system to make something work the thing doesn't work.
You even said it yourself. It works. I dont give a damn how it does. If its a cheap trick or if they kidnapped an employee from Nintendo himself to write the workarround himself with a bug he himself implemented in the bootrom or whatever. In the end i can it to do that what i want it to do. How is the definition of broken "thing that does what it should but needed a bit of a workarround"?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

The ENTIRE system breaks on new FIRMs. You need to cheat and use Nintendo's stupidity to use it.
With that logic something like downgrading is broken because you exploit the way the 3ds handels the dsi mode

BootNTR is just the launcher. And of course something has to be adjusted every FIRM update, because that's the way Boot NTR works. If you have a better solution, feel free to suggest it, including a working PoC.

Yet, you didn't answer my question. I asked for what exactly is broken. Saying "the entire system breaks", doesn't quite describe it properly.

Downgrading IS broken in a sense, but that's in a technicality. Using an exploit to exploit something doesn't mean the exploit is broken, but when a tool is broken on new version and you need to hack around it's failures because the developer is a 4 year old and refuses to update it then the tool is broken.
