Alright so many people think this project is dead. That's half true and half false.
While the code used for this is definitely deprecated and contains a lot of bullshit, I've started to rewrite it a long time ago, and now I have some results to show.
There's still a lot of things that haven't been implemented and right now the source is nowhere else other than my PC. I hope to be able to at least have something by the end of the next week.
Development has been incredibly slow due to me having exams and uni and yadda yadda, but at least I'm getting there. The video below contains a bug in my screen init code, but the payload still runs in the background (my fork of Cakes if anyone is wondering).
The animation was linked by @Crystal the Glaceon and is currently the only one I use for testing.

There's also a fully functional configuration menu

(btw the new key to "save and exit" is actually A but I forgot to change the string)
The pattern you see in the bottom screen is procedurally generated.

Hope you like what you see and if you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Of course, the new version already has screen init built in.

Nice update sir. So is for the 3DS or the animation creator program, cause i hoped for update for that too. Like built in compessor instead of external one.

now all I need is sound and a limit of at least 1 minute 30 so I can put the entire jojo's bizzare adventure season 1 intro on my boot. Then my life shall be complete.

It would be very impractical...

...but awesome nonetheless.

SONO CHI NO SADAME
Impractical? That is straight up opinion based. I wouldn't wanna waste 1:30 on booting a system. Consoles already take enough time booting, now to wait even longer, how bout aa way to get to start my game as soon as possible?:creep:
0 second boot time, remove 3DS logo loading screen when booting games and such, how can psp already boot games faster than 3DS :P

No, this is heresy. I must have my jojo 3ds startup. I need it in my life. It also needs to be unskippable as a deterrant for my nephew wanting to play with my 3ds.

Again, I'm open to (reasonable) suggestions/requests. If you can find a good reason to have an option to make it unskippable, I'd love to hear it. Same thing with any other requests.
Before anyone asks, no, sound is not "reasonable".

To be honest, personally i don't see a reason to make it unskippable, unless someone has problems watching something without touching a button. Only suggestion i can think is to make a guide or walkthrough for optimizing the conversions of animation and compressing data, all in one instead of needing external programs as well. I had trouble finding this Compressing exe until someone told me i have to make it which i had no idea how to do and someone was kind enough to do it for me. I founded the FFMPEG thing it wasn't so hard but the site was so bugged it took too long to actually load the download pages. :P

I'd actually like unskippable as a config option for a couple of reasons, one being the aforementioned deterrent, but also because I sometimes I accidentally skip and it makes me sad inside. Or better have a button combination to skip, like R+A or something.

Does the new version support larger animations? Or those sweet looking 60fps gifs?

I can work on something like that when I get the time, my weekend is a tad busy though.

I thought the folder was named anim not anim9

Sorry you're right. I sometimes confuse it with the actual animation file :P
Yes, put LUMA CFW file into that folder "Anim" and rename it "Arm9payload.bin" Instead of arm9loaderhax.bin which is supposed to be the bootanim9 file.

But you need screen init on.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Hmmmm I wish I would have known that when I followed https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki lol
Click the part where it says update arm9loader hax. Then go get the screen init file from the LUMA CFW download and then it should work.

Ok I tried before I left and I updated with screeninit, put the payload of bootanim9 in the root and I put luma cfw into the anim folder and renamed it and still black screen on boot...

Did you set up the boot animation layout proerly? Numbered folders 0-9 in the anim folder with the anim9 file (THE ANIMATION) directed at which ever screen you want?
