I wanna dig out my old PS2 and play some games on it, but I don't have a controller and all of the official ones for sales are stupidly expensive. Does anyone have any experience with the knockoff controllers that are all over ebay? Specifically, do they support the Dualshock 2's pressure sensitive buttons?

Thanks in advance.

if you mean L3 + R3 then yes they do but be careful some are really cheaply made. I found one locally at a third party retro game store for 19.99$usd stopped working the other day so I took it apart used the parts to fix an original I had laYing around.

edit:reading a second time I think you meant the presure buttons like how hard to hit X or Square. and the trigger buttons in back. I honestly don't know but if it's made for ps2 I would think so. it just might not feel like the original. (sticky buttons, harder to press, feels lite/cheap in your hands etc etc.)

Well I bit the bullet and bought one and it's terrible. The analog sort of works, it registers various degrees of movement, but only in 8 directions. And none of the face buttons are pressure sensitive. Just typing this here in case anyone finds this thread through searching.

the triangle, square cross, circle are pressure sensitive buttons, that's what he means

so far i never encontered a ps2 controller with the sensitive buttons, but i had just 2-3 knock off brands, i usually go for the official ones...

It is really hit a miss with those fake PS2 controllers, last time I got 2 wireless ones from aliexpress and those work very well.

I played some DMC 3,Onimusha 3 another great games with it.
But there is a older/another wireless PS2 controllers to find on the internet, those are a bit worse.
Those look the same like the one in the picture, but those have a connect button on the reciever.
I got those 4 years ago, and buttons where a bit lose so I swap them with better buttons from a original controller.

Do you have a link from that controller? It sounds like a great controller. How do you charge them?

I've gotten a cheapo wireless PS2 controller from Ebay.
Thing works perfectly fine and has an equal quality built like the original.

Edit: exactly the same like @DaFixer has posted.

all my knockoff ps2 controllers have sensitive buttons.
pressure buttons. not sensitivity
the face buttons (square, cross, circle, triangle) and back sholders are pressure sensible, they are kinda analogic.. i call it semi analogic buttons...
only a few games actually use this function, ace combat is an example the square button is used for camera zoom, different pressure on the button results in diferent zoom (the harder you press the more zoom it has)

back in the day when i had the ps2, when i played this game i noticed about this feature and i was really really surprised and stunned by the quality sony put on the controllers...

however sony dropped this feature on the dual shock 4 (and price of the controller rised up anyway)

most knock off controllers don't have this feature...

btw, @DaFixer @DinohScene is that thing an official controller? i fucking hate when chineses counterfeit the brand names into their products...
do wireless official controllers exist?

No those are 100% fake, Sony never make wireless controllers for the PS2.
Only a few brands (Logitech/Air) make official wireless controller for the PS2, those controllers have the right marks on the buttons.
But nowdays those aftermarked controllers have the right button marks and brand, becase the chineses don't care about it.
And I like those fake branded controllers, I look more complete with those brands.
To bad I still don't found fake Sony branded 32mb memory cards...
