Hacking PKG Installer 2.0!

Note: this won't let you install anything other than PS Vita demos and official apps and (I think) PSP demos, as far as I know. Correct me if I'm wrong.

After a bit of testing, I can confirm it all works well. Here are a few tips for confused users.

• This does not install .pkg files, but rather .pkgs files. It may be possible to extract .pkgs files out of the .pkg ones.
• You need the PC installer as well. It installs .pkgs files over wi-fi, so the vita and PC software need to be opened at the same time at all times while installing.
• Make sure firewall is not blocking the PC installer. Mine was initially blocked, but it only told me after it installed, and my demo didn't work.
• After installing, you should receive a notification. If not, reboot your vita. Upon clicking this notification, the bubble will be installed. It doesn't require HENkaku, as it is just a legitimate, non-DRM demo.

Here is where you can find everything, if you're lost. Silica is hoping that someone else can modify his installer into one that can install .pkg files, for convenience. Have fun!

You misread that lots im saying .pkgs can be extracted with 7zip.
.pkg can be extracted.. i just donno how. if someone can find a way to extract a .pkg but not decrypt it.. then
we can convert .pkg to .pkgs!

Wololo is hosting PS Vita .pkg xTractor 1.01, the problem is it only works on firmware lower than 3.61 and 3.60.



Edit: If the PS Vita .pkg xTractor was always available than why the fuck won't people update it for newer firmware? The fuck?????

if it was a simple matter of renaming then the program itself would be able to see .pkg and .pkgs

Or wanting someone to release .pkg to .pkgs converter if you can extract .pkg it can be done!!

Well, anything that it in .pkgs file. So any free psn apps and demos that don't have DRM, we don't know how to decrypt actual games yet. My personal interest is to play demos of games I really love, since I don't wanna update and lose HENkaku just to do that.

Nop. We don't know right now, and that won't work. These are all the pkgs we have, for now.

im not, 7zip doesnt extract .pkg

(prohaps .pkgs (standing for packagesecound) wasnt such a good file extension)

I know we can use the tool on older firmware, but we also need the tool to work on 3.60.

gamemaker is not made for this sorta thing lol it mainly is just executing commands in cmd.exe

I used to make gamemaker games when I was 10. I would never forget that loading screen \o/

there was someone on hackinformer who posted a few download dumps for when the email trick was a thing ive mannaged to convert all of em to pkgs but if we can get PSN access we will be able to get lots more.
we wont even need that giant list of .pkg from wololo XD im gonna get them all in .pkgs when i get access to PSN on 3.60 (or when HenKaKu comes to 3.61)
also when PSN is an option ill have a option in the PC app to create .pkgs

There is a way to get PSN access using a DNS spoofer made to trick the Store ETC into thinking you're on 3.61 I've been using it
