What do you mean by "just using the internet browser"

there is a new browserhax for 10.6+. you'd need to use it anyway to set up stickerhax.

It should be named FBI_inject_with_banner.app (this is what the program creates by default, it will be named this unless you deliberately renamed it). But as long as you're selecting the same name as your file it should work.

Stop assuming stuff and just read the guide I linked. That should clear up all your doubts. If you have questions AFTER reading it then ask away :-)

That's what I copied over but when I chose the inject option it fails and says no usable file found. I have re-copied it same result. Currently re-dumping to try again.

That's weird. Did you put it on the root?

Yep, as you suspected, it is better to set up CFW and sell your Sky3DS. But don't sell it yet - you can use it to update to 9.2 easily and then use it as Cubic Ninja (if you update with a game, browserhax won't work so you need cubic ninja).

I found the problem, when using universal injector the operation fails and creates a 0 byte file. Universal Injector says: Error: open file work\hs_hdr.bin failed
along with two more similar errors.

Nope - you can install all the games you want to play on your Home menu, as though they were eShop games. There's even a handy application called freeShop which lets you download and install games directly to the 3DS with no computer needed. You can continue using the Sky if you want to, but it's not required to play games once you've set up a9lh. If it were me I would prefer to spend the $80 or so you'd get for it on food or rent or something else useful :-)

you can, but you'd have to find one somewhere. I don't know if I can distribute an injected one.

You know what they say about assume - it makes an ass of u and me. If I was the newbie with a 6.0.0-12 console, and under your instructions I went and bought a game to update to 9.2, and then I found out I had to buy ANOTHER game and a powersaves, or a really overpriced game to continue, and THEN found out I could have done it for free all along - I would be incredibly mad at you! Most people who come here are newbies having just got their first 3DS console and thus will have no or few games. Anyone who already has an exploit game, chances are they have the skills to work out what to do themselves if they've already found themselves homebrew (or at least they'll be asking questions at a later point, not the very beginning).

it's better to just go with the general 9.2 update guide that everyone suggests. it's easier than any game card method could ever do with 6.0.0-12.

I think hs.app is specific to the console it is dumped from. Or else, it is specific to the firmware, new/oldness and region. If they were universal, we'd just be downloading already injected ones instead of dumping our own.

Agreed, and reduced chance for misunderstanding (since he suggested using a game card right away before checking which ones they had - they might have gone away thinking they'd better get a game card and not respond to the post anymore).

Well, you shouldn't be mentioning updating with a cart AT ALL until you were sure they had what they needed - that's just irresponsible. That's like when someone asks about a game not working, suggesting that they update their console before checking what sort of CFW they're running (if they were running non-a9lh, sysNAND CFW that would be an obvious disaster, as well as if they are running emuNAND and you don't specify about going to Settings, checking, not exiting before update, etc).

I just got it to inject, fresh restore + latest FBI + 3rd fresh HS dump = successful inject.
Next is how do I install menuhax ?

You're on a firmware 9.0 or greater, right? Change the theme at least once and have the homebrew starter pack on your SD card (boot.3dsx and 3ds folder). Use browserhax to get into the homebrew menu and choose menuhax installer. Follow instructions from there (or take a look at https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-1-(Homebrew) for more detailled steps).
