click anything on the keyboard when that pops up should worksorry what?

when windows asks you what you want to boot, should work. thats how it worked for mewhen what pops up

thats definitely not a windows 7 iso than.what?
well i press esc to open the boot menu, i choose the usb stick, then it happens what i said above, nothing pops up

whered you even get the .iso file? microsoft or a 3rd party?it is

Is your computer 32-bit or 64-bit? Depending on your setup you will either have to configure rufus to make a MBR or a GPT install image. And if you try running a 64-bit OS on a 32-bit machine it's not going to work. Where did you download the ISO from? It may be corrupted.
Download the ISO from Microsoft https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 (requires you to enter your key for verification)
Then use the ISO to USB tool https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool#installation
Then in your computer go into your bios menu, and select booting from the USB drive.

t411, rings a bell?3rd party what? We don't know exactly what you're referring to half the time, so you will have to provide more details so we can help you.
We don't need to get into that since he has done it all he needs now is to boot from the usb
watch when you computer boots it might say would you like to boot from a usb press enter, press enter then and it should boot do you see the windows 7 boot logo?
