Excellent clickbait .-.

While my praise goes to this emulator and your skills, your insistence that IOSU isn't necessary, while true, is starting to get annoying.

By this measure, we don't need CFW on 3DS since the Homebrew Launcher works just fine, which just isn't true, with 3DS CFW we can make everything much simpler thanks to full system access and cia installing, plus the fact that an EmuNAND, or an updated SysNAND with FIRM protection in A9LH, gives you protection against updates.

Literally, you're bashing the superior choice of IOSU, which would allow much more convenient homebrew, just because pirates want it as well? >.>

He's bashing the practice of convincing people that an IOSU exploit is needed for decent homebrew. It scares away developers and generally turns everything into chasing the single private exploit.
Whether or not he's taking it too far is up to the beholder, but the point behind it is good. After all, only a few posts ago we had someone astounded that "even without IOSU" homebrew was possible.

@brienj
So I assume that the "with IOSU hack" part is untrue and as such deliberately misleading?
@raulpica, it's part of the official name of the emulator, as you can see from the screenshots and video, and based upon the gacube emulator meme that has been posted around here.

Exactly, and we even had someone post that they did not even know that HBAS existed, most likely from the constant posting of people thinking that a IOSU release is going to be the next coming, and they think that IOSU is needed for really great homebrew, when that isn't the case. And also because most homebrew gets buried off of the first page within a few hours, from people asking for their IOSU hack, or how to better pirate games. The Wii U is a great platform for creating software, and I used to think it wasn't all that powerful, from all the negative things I had seen posted about it. I am still impressed by how well it is able to run software that is not optimized and run an emulator in straight interpreter mode, that is just pieced together. Having the dual screens opens up another level of creativity on top of everything else. People may get tired of hearing me talk about how IOSU isn't a requirement (but don't get me wrong, I know it would be good too), but I'm tired of people talking about how the Wii U is a piece of crap and isn't worth developing on, because you have to open the browser one time to install the kernel hack, or whatever excuse it is for that week. And I'm tired of people not realizing how much homebrew has already been made, and continues to be made, even with just a handful of people caring enough to make anything, public at least, there's plenty of private shit floating around ...

Just take the IOSU part out of the title. It comes across as click bait and is pandering to users that can't really contribute anyway. It's unless and misleading.

I'm really thankful that there are people like you who develop such great homebrew for the Wii U. I agree, it is a totally underestimated console - homebrew or not. So thank you, and if I could make a wish, than I'd vote for you looking into a N64 Emulator eventually ;)
Thanks for your hard work, @brienj !!

brienj while I have nothing but total respect for all your hard work in the homebrew screen the name of this emulator is just way wrong and you have clearly done this so more people click on the thread. All you are going to do is piss a load of people off who came here excepting a iosu hack. Let your homebrew speak for itself instead of luring people here with false pretences. Surely you can see the error of your way when more people are talking about the name rather than the excellent emu you have made.

I got that, but I can't understand the love for stupid memes :P Oh well. Just wanted to warn you that the name kills much of the "seriousness" of the project and will also attract ill-will and confusion from the users.

Since you've spent time on it, and probably intend on spending more time on it, I'd just follow the advice the other users gave you and just drop the "with IOSU hack", but that's just my two cents.

Great stuff as usual. I emplore you to keep working on these projects. There's scant few emulators for the Wii U so it would be a shame if the few that do exist disappear!

@brienj This is exactly my point. You did good work here. Let your awesome emulator speak for itself. Leave the IOSU part out. It's diminishing your efforts.

I can't change the name of the thread title. I don't care what the thread is named, but the actual name of this emulator is what it is.

It's done as a joke about the meme.

I am doing what I can.

I don't care if the thread title is changed, I can't change it myself, but the actual name of this emulator isn't changing, it's the name I want it to be called, but the next one is not going to be named over a meme.

Well, I can't convince you to rename your emulator, but at least I can rename this thread :P Hopefully this will reduce confusion for our users.
I didn't mean to cause any confusion, sorry if it did. I laugh every time I read the meme here, and I love to have fun and not take everything seriously, it ruins the fun in life. Like I said though, the future emulator with better rom support and sound will have a much more fitting name.

No worries, could've been way worse! :P I love memes as well, but not ones created by users trolling on here since it just invites more users to behave like stupid trolls just to get their 15 minutes of fame ;) So yeah, just déformation professionnelle! :P
